Solid concepts, poor presentation

The book is full of great biblical concept, which are unfortunately presented in not the best fashion. While I enjoy listening to James Dobson, it was painful to hear him read what seemed to be pages of interview transcripts and page-long quotations from other writers. That's just not good writing!! Then, open endorsement of politicians in the middle of a parenting book was inappropriate.

Disappointed

I love James Dobson and his books Bringing Up Boys, but I found this book to be extreme in many ways. After reading most of it I found myself overwhelmed with the possible what ifs for my sweet little girl. He was also very hard on working moms and the role they play in their kids lives. I bought this book for insight and help in playing a Godly role in my daughters life, but did not find what I needed in this book.

Oh Jesus...prepare yourselves for a sermon.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A different book would have been a good start. Or an author with any sense of perspective.

Has Bringing Up Girls turned you off from other books in this genre?

Absolutely yes - I would have never expected to get a lecture about everything going to hell from a book I bought on Audible.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of James C. Dobson?

James Earl Jones would have been interesting.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No.

Any additional comments?

Can I get my money back please?

Disappointing

I was really hoping to learn something new. Instead, I found a biased perspective and an us vs them theme throughout. I don't believe that political "labels" dictate how you parent or how effective your parenting is.

I couldn't get past the conservative views

a book of conservative ranting. I couldn't get very far. I disagree that no matter what a female decides to wear, that is not an invitation for rape. .. or that abortions are used as birth control.

This audiobook was convicting to me. It is very relevant for what is going on in the world today. I want to buy the book now because there were important resources and also steps to take. I didn't take notes but I should have. I highly recommend this book

ew

list of reasons why I hated this:

1) We should not TRAIN our children 2)It's ok to be gay 3) Author is arrogant and proud of it 4) Pushes a blind conservative Christian agenda and any other view or ideology is wrong 4) this man doesn't even come close to understanding GIRLS, let alone how to raise them. wtf did I download and why!?

Should be called: ‘Bringing up Girls in the 1950s’

Didn’t find it helpful. The author has a very conservative world view, if you think girls should ‘save themselves for their future husbands’ then this book may be of help to you. I was hoping for some practical advice, but found the book to be written for a world that is completely alien to
The one I live in.

Don't bother with it if you are not Christian.

This book if for Christian. The bible has some great lessons, but you don't need to believe in Jesus to understand them. You need to be a believer to implement this mans message. Shame, I took a few things from it.
