Publisher's Summary

Josie thought she was getting a promotion at her architectural firm, but instead her career implodes. She impulsively takes up her roommates’ offer to nanny for a little girl on a mega yacht in the South of France. Even though she can't stand boats, this seems like fate giving her an opportunity to lick her wounds in a bucket list paradise while she figures out how to get her life back.

But this little girl she’s arrived to look after has a daddy. A widowed, hot, billionaire of a daddy. And if there’s anything that Josie needs less than having to be stuck on a yacht, no matter how luxurious, it’s an inconvenient and highly combustible attraction to her new boss. A man who, for all his wealth, is grumpy, conceited, and utterly closed off.

Xavier Pascale is on an emotional island of his own making. It’s just him and his daughter and he likes it that way. He works hard, his shareholders are happy, and his best friends are his body guard and the people who work for him. What’s wrong with that? But then he meets Josephine Marin. Her arrival in his life is like a deep ocean tremor along a catastrophic emotional fault line. And now…well, now, he’s very, very aware of his isolation and his very human need. But he can’t be distracted. When he gets distracted terrible things happen.

He should send the nanny home. He really should. But what if he just takes what he wants, just this one time?

This is a standalone, contemporary romance. It includes luscious scenes of sparkling blue ocean; tantalizing, seductive food; as well as a smoking hot, dirty-talking Frenchman. If traveling scares you, or sexy times scare you, then this book is not for you. But if you’re looking for a decadent armchair vacation after being stuck in one place for over a year - a story that will make you laugh, swoon, fan yourself, and cry - then this one is for you!

Kept me intrigued,

The story had a lot of potential. Somewhat predictable but I enjoy romantic escapes into billionaire tales. I got a little tired of the characters' ongoing angst and distrust, but overall enjoyed the book.

Not the quality of "The Indigo Girl", but good.

I have read all of Natasha Boyd's books, and enjoyed them all. After reading "The Indigo Girl" the bar was set high and this book was disappointing.
I did enjoy "Broken French," but the liberal use "F" bombs, the distasteful language used to describe two people in love (making love....or as Boyd wrote it "F&%$ing" or some other crass word, was just off... It was like listening to beautiful music and the record needle getting yanked across the vinyl. "I want to F$&% you", sounds more like "one night stand" language in a club, not a person in love on a beautiful yacht in France to an architect from Charleston, SC. It cheapened the story for me.
The narrator was really good and in other novels I would think her brilliant; however, she missed the mark when it comes to a Charleston, SC accent (and mispronounced so many southern words).
I loved "The Indigo Girl" so very much and was so impressed with the research and depth of that novel. It was the kind of book that stays with you. This one is a fun summer read, you enjoy and move on.

Loved Book/Poor choice on Male Narrator

Loved loved loved this book but wish I had read it rather than did audio. The male narrator’s voice was not what I would have imagined for a 35 year old gorgeous Frenchman. He sounded old and a little tired and sometimes whiny.

It’s not my preference

I didn’t like the female narrator. Not enough differentiation in voices, very bland, almost bored tone. Loved the story. I have the book which is excellent.

Best romance I’ve read.

I loved this book. I agree with others that the Male narrator sounded too old for the part. But that didn’t ruin it for me. I felt everything that happened in the story. So well written and amazing. I will have to listen again.

Amazing female narrator

The story was cute, a bit predictable. But the female narration was amazing. She did a great job distinguishing the different characters. I could listen to her all day.

I didn’t like the voice of the readers

The words and expressions from the readers had me cringing multiple times. I liked the story in France but the main characters were way too cheesy.

Wrong Actors

The female protagonist has grown up in Charleston, SC, but the narrator is not familiar with the language of the area, specifically, the pronunciation. Nothing in my wildest imaginations would make me believe that she was raised in the South, let alone Charleston, and that simply takes me out of the book.

Pair that with a Frenchman who sounds like my grandfather, not a 30-something love interest, and it makes this book impossible to enjoy.

I would rather have a single reader who just reads, than to have two terrible voice actors.

The best Contemporary romance ever

I loved loved loooooved this book! I don’t often write reviews, but this book is worth it. I loved the characters, with the mix of slight bilingual mix ins of the French language. The descriptions of the locations and the atmosphere were amazing. I loved the slow burn lovers/haters relationship. I will definitely be reading again!
The sex Scenes were great! Highly recommend.

Almost passed over this lovely story

I initially switched this off as I didn't like the narration, which at first felt slow and a little flat...but later tried it again and kind of fell into the sing-song of their voices, until I felt like I was floating at sea with the them. It was both sultry and raw, and the languid pacing turned out to be rich and delicious. Like brie and honey on a warm baguette.... The writing is a cut above most romance novels too...I was at times surprised by the beauty of some of the phrasing.

A beautiful read

Tension romance love lust and a few tears 😭
A great story, heartfelt characters although josey was in her head waaaaaaay too much sometimes narration adorable and fitting

Worth the read … not for those who don’t like it when it gets really mushy sometimes but perfect if you love the monologues of love
