eww, Eww, EWW!

Okay, lemme get this right. The lead female character's FIRST boyfriend openly has sex with random women. But she's good with that.

Okayy...

She meets her NEXT boyfriend while he's having sex with another woman.

Huh?

So far, looks like girlfriend needs a quick trip to the free clinic. Nothing redeeming or binge-worthy about these characters, who I assume the author wants us to fall in love with.

Topping all THAT off, she admittedly drugs a guy into needing sexual release, which turns into her being brutally raped for hours. And her response is, "It's okay. Don't worry about it."

Wah???

I'm not getting the next one. And I'm curious as to the fate of this review, since only 22 reviews are posted, and they're all stellar. This is too similar to the abundance of other reverse harem/shifter plots out there, and you can pretty much see the epilogue (turns out, girl is more than just human and super-unique and solves everyone's problems, she and her mates fit together like the pieces of the key thingy they have to collect, sister is thrown to the side, father dies) from here. Alexa B. Jones is going on my "don't bother" list.

Yeah, I'm good. I'll give the required star to Jake and Bridgette Bordeaux, who's determined attempts at some of those accents were hilarious.

Broken princess

Holy Molly, this book started off so good, and it just kept getting better. But I'm still curious 🤔 about Itzel and what she is. Is she something special? And is Lord Balam in love with her and is she with him But about shadow.

Hot and heavy

While there are a lot of triggers in this book, it is written very well. There are so many questions and underlying issues that need to be solved. I can’t wait to see what happens next for the sisters.

Wow this audiobook was amazing. Broken Princess had me breathless. It was amazing and Bridget and Jake were amazing narrators.

This is the first book of the series and so much stuff happens in this book. Let's just say she well do anything to help her sister become queen, even though her sister to me seems weak to me. Jake and Bridget did an amazing job narrating this book ❤

Great start to a new series

Great start to a new series. I like how the story keeps you guessing what’s going to happen next. I can’t wait to listen to the next book in this series. I would definitely recommend this book to read or listen to.

Good enough to keep me listening

I listened to the audio version of this book, but that was not an available edition.
I had a hard time getting into this story. Itzel is an Ocelot princess but since she was a second child she is human. The first-born daughter is Camila who will inherit the leadership of the Ocelot kingdom. First, though, she must collect amulets from each cat shifter nation. These amulets will come together to show her who her mate will be. There are really no rules as to how to obtain the amulets, though some of them may require certain things in order to open them.

Camille is a spoiled, selfish girl who is also more than a bit pitiful. She is whiny most of the time and has an exaggerated opinion of herself all of the time. If you check the dictionary under manipulative you will likely find her picture. Itzel, on the other hand, is a little wild and very dedicated to helping her sister gain the crown. Their father has managed to alienate all the other shifter clans and this is going to make getting the amulets even more difficult. I tried to like Itzel, but she changes her mind more than a man changes TV channels. She is also blind to her sister's manipulations and this makes me want to slap her.

The chance to get the first amulet comes when a delegation from the jaguar nation visits the Ocelot kingdom. The shaman of the tribe is the keeper of their amulet and it falls to Itzel to try to get it for her sister.

I won't ruin the story for you. Rest assured that there is lots of sex and Itzel can't make her mind up about who all she wants to have that with either. Think hormonal teenage boy. I got a free copy of this book from StoryOrigin. My review is voluntary.

Broken Princess

I really enjoyed Itzel, she is feisty, unapologetic and loyal to those she loves and cares about. Unfortunately for her she let's her sister walk all over her (in my opinion anyway). But she is doing what she thinks she needs to do to protect her. At first I wanted to smack some sense into Balam, but he grew on me. I like the storyline and am curious as to where this goes from here.
I read and listened to the audiobook and both narrators are amazing as always.

Action-packed, some steam, challenging characters

A story about Itzel, second daughter, a non-shifter and as such, second-class citizen in the Ocelet Nation where first-born sister Camila, a shifter, is in line to rule. Itzel devises to seduce another head of state to obtain amulets on behalf of her sister, the holding of which would put Camila on the path to rule, and ideally fairly unlike the reigning King, their father.

The main characters did not hold much appeal; the heroine, while altruistic, too often yielded to her plaintive, and in my view, manipulative sister. Itzel’s blindly giving nature didn’t make the story credible and detracted from my enjoyment. Also, the heroes while likable were not particularly noteworthy.

Pace was good, not slow, nice flow of events. Lots of action and great world building. Only a bit of “on screen” steam but what was described was hot. The story contained some dark themes, but the overall plot was not dark. I liked the why-chose nature of the romance with the gradual introduction of Itzel's partners.

Narration Performance
The voice actress, who performed primarily, demonstrated a great amount of range, shifting (pun intended) from character to character, female or male, and changing accents. The (male) voice actor’s performance of the male characters was good, accent slightly exaggerated. Neither acting rendition elevated the story sufficiently to captivate me, that I could lose myself in the experience. Both narrators' deliveries were too fast.

Overall, while I could appreciate some aspects of this romance -- the world building, the variety of shifters and why-choose, and the action, this tale did not strike a cord for me for the main characters.

Dark, seductive and addictive

This is a great reverse harem, dark paranormal romance that hooks you in from the very start. Itzel is the second child of the Ocelot Nation's king and as such, she is a shifter princess who can not shift. She is human, and in the Ocelot society humans are second class citizens. Her sister, Camila, is destined to become queen and must find her mate by first visiting all the shifter kingdoms and securing their mating amulets. The cruelty of her father pushes Itzel into helping with Camila with her quest, and she is thrust into a sensual, danger filled world the likes of which Itzel could never have imagined.
This book was a surprise, it is dark, seductive and addictive and the narrator captured the characters beautifully. I liked the concept of environmental disasters leading to the shifters taking over, how each shifter nation is different, and that not all of them see humans as second class. It is a fast-moving story that has more to it than just the erotica. It has characters that change as the book progresses, elements of romance, politics, action, danger, and some dark, sexual violence that some may find triggering. The men in the story have enough individuality and varying dynamics with Itzel to keep them from all feeling the same and I also liked that her harem will be established throughout the series and is not an already established group. Itzel is fierce, loyal, and determined to get her sister on the throne, no matter the cost to herself.  She is smart and strong and just keeps moving forward, even when she encounters awful things. It will be interesting to see what happens next in this story
