Publisher's Summary

Buddhism has been around for thousands of years, but it was not until recently when people all over the world have started to gain interest in it once more.

Perhaps it is because they are drawn to the teachings of Buddhism that center on themes, such as living life in moderation, letting go of desires and being compassionate towards others. The physical and mental benefits gained from such Buddhist practices as meditation, yoga and mindfulness may have also contributed to its popularity. Yet, as people slowly begin to introduce Buddhist principles into their lifestyle, many of their questions regarding this ancient way of life still need simple answers.

If you are someone who wants to know more about Buddhism and how you can incorporate its principles into your daily life, then this book is for you.

In this book you will find:

  • What is Buddhism? Is it a religion?
  • Who was Siddhartha Gautama? Was he a human or a deity?
  • What do the Four Noble Truths mean? What is the Noble Eightfold Path?
  • What are reincarnation, nirvana, and karma?
  • Why is Theravada Buddhism different from Mahayana Buddhism? Is Zen also a kind of Buddhism?
  • What exactly is mindfulness?
  • How do you meditate? What are the different ways to meditate?
  • Is it possible to practice Buddhist principles without becoming a Buddhist?
  • How do you become a practicing Buddhist? Do you need to be baptized?

Whether you are a beginner to the concepts of Buddhism, or someone who conducted research and would like to deepen your understanding of the concept, this book will provide you with answers in a no-frills way.

As an atheist I do not believe in God

As an atheist, I do not believe in God but the time I saw this audiobook and listen to it, all of my questions got an answer about religion. This book made me realize that the works of Buddhism were true. It taught me that I should let go of my desires and how to be compassionate to others. This book also teaches me what physical and mental benefits I can get with the practice of yoga and it was really relaxing it always keeps me calm every time I listen to it.

Good intro

I've studied Zen Buddhism for a bit, was having trouble finding the lineage of it in accordance to the Mahāyāna Buddhism and Theravada Buddhism. This book helped clarify some of that. Also showing some different variation of meditation. all and all, worth the credit.

Wonderful book

In any event it is reasonably priced and well written for the beginner, so do not be afraid to give it a try; just be cautious that it may not give you the answers you are looking for as I have explained.

Information book

I found the title of the text particularly misleading as it did not really teach the reader to "Become Stress & Anxiety Free." In summation, I felt that this text was more of a glossary of Buddhist

Great book

I felt that each section was so rudimentary and lacking of reference for further material that a quick Wikipedia search may have been equally as enlightening. Furthermore,

Good book

This book is good for someone without any knowledge of Buddhism who wants to dip their toes in the water; however, for the truly curious, this will leave you wondering if you got any closer to following the practice.

Nice book ......

The books provide some really good information on the history of buddhism and its various schools of thought, but more importantly, they both teach you how to practice and adopt the powerful habit of meditation.

Very Informative.

Very informative lectures. The balance between being high level and providing too much information is well maintained. The author is clearly an expert on the subject, he draws from personal experience and tells us many anecdotes about his personal experience with Buddhism.

Really impressed...

This book was my first glimpse at Buddhism, and I expected a dry recitation of teachings and tenants. What I found was a smartly written mix of life experiences combined with an easily digestible beginners guide.

listen it.... get used to it.....

This booklet was very helpful for me to begin my exploration into Buddhism. It provides insights and information a neophyte such as I needs in order to grasp a " religion " or ideology quite foreign yet novel to an American raised and I have enjoyed Ian's insights and writing. I am a better person for reading this and assimilating it's value.
