If you ask nearly anyone in the South what Sherman did during the Civil War, most people would say that he destroyed the Southern states, leaving ashes and bodies in his wake. Many would say that he burned Atlanta or Columbia. It's what we've been told for over 150 years! In this book, you will be guided through the historical record left behind by both sides of the argument. You will sift through the documents to determine whether you can trust the writers of the records. Did General Sherman really burn Columbia...or has he been the fall guy all along?

Divorce is a lot like losing someone. It is the death of a marriage. It is a sheer and brutal act of abandonment. It is extremely personal. Even after the meanest separation or divorce that caught you off guard, you may achieve this level of self-acceptance and forgiveness. This doesn’t mean you deny what they did to you or run away from the pain. Instead, you allow yourself to experience it all—the guilt, shame, anger, and disappointment—and move through it. Our future selves are obstinate in repeating the same errors every single time. In this book, I will describe elements in ourselves that contribute to what I call the “stupidity factor” of our future selves. I will present tips and techniques that you can use for taming that incorrigible future self to be less…stupid. Because when you realize your future self is still you, you will most likely behave the same way your present self behaves in the future. That’s an advantage because the future self will never magically change or surprise you with new behaviors. That’s a fact!

We worry about everything from their health to their happiness to the little scrape on their knee to their future careers. But it’s the signs of developmental delays that really keep us up at night. Publisher's Summary
Congratulations, and welcome to the exciting and challenging role of a manager!
I hate to break the bad news, but here are two inevitable issues you are about to face in your new role:
- Your team don’t trust you.
- You are dealing with a low-trust organization
The first issue is given. Even if you’ve worked as a team member with your colleagues from Day One; once you got promoted, the situation resets itself. You are now “the boss”, and, as you are well aware, there’s something universal about employees’ animosity toward an authority figure. Former friends that used to “break bread with you” turn into foes overnight. Consequently, such a level of distrust, personal resentment, and defiance immediately affects the team’s performance. It’s a behavioral pattern of a group you simply cannot avoid.
The severity of the second issue, however, is something you need to analyze in the shortest time possible, especially if you are a newcomer and still not familiar with the routines and habits of your organization, your team, and the individuals within. The problem exists; make no mistake. And it is expected of you to fix it - yesterday.
As a first-time manager, you will never get a second chance to make a good first impression on your team.
Therefore, once you step into your new role, you want to be sure that you are well prepared and utterly confident that you can earn the trust of your employees as a prerequisite for your success as the manager.
In years preceding authoring this book, I had a rare privilege to coach and consult an extensive line of managers and executives in different industries on their journeys toward building high-trust organizations. They were all facing the same challenge you are facing now - reversing inherited zero growth and low profitability with limited experience.
This book will help you crack the trust code using strategies that have been proven to yield exceptional results for managers of all levels and age groups. Based on case studies and extensive research, the book provides actionable steps to facilitate trust-building within your team, navigate tough conversations, improve diversity and inclusion, and much more!
Buckle in.
Your management career begins now!

Really informative
As a new manager i thought i would read up on the topic so i can be the best i can be, sometimes i think managers can fall into very outdated ways to manage which can cause hostility and low productivity within a team, Having worked underneath bad managers before i set my self the goal to be the best version of me, and this book has helped tremendously with that, The book was broken down in to easy to digest chapters which is also great to be referred back too. I enjoyed the chapter about admitting your own mistakes and sharing credit, I think this important when working with a team

New managers face many challenges even (and especially) if they've worked within the same team for years. As a new boss you'll get all kinds of grief from people, from jealousy, lack of trust, doubting your abilities to make decisions for the whole team, etc. This audiobook is an excellent guide to the first steps you need to take to maintain a friendly atmosphere in the team, avoid as many of these issues as possible, and most importantly gain respect. There is a saying that ‘the fool is the pre-cursor to the hero.’ Every time I start something new, I find out exactly why that is true. There is so much to do and so much to learn – so much trust to win! This book cuts through the rubble and deals with everything you need to know when you become a manager. It will help you to overcome the animosity your team has toward you when you as the boss. I found the book quite lengthy, but worth it!

Making the leap to a managerial position can seem like a chasm at first, especially if you've shifted from a more systems or product focussed role and you're now suddenly faced with dealing with people problems. This book breaks down different aspects of management such as building rapport, negotiating, active listening, handling problematic conversations, mirroring and more. A good guide for new managers.

Brilliant tips!
I’ve been a manager now in a corporation for a number of years and this refreshing look at people management has definitely taught me many new strategies. This book will definitely be extremely useful for anyone entering the role of a manager in an organisation. It will help you understand how people operate as employees and how to effectively build mutual trust and understanding in order to reach targets and goals. So much of this is dependant on individuals’ personalities that skilfully manoeuvring working relationships is crucial to your success. Manager runs the processes, and often has the difficult task of negotiating the company’s way, which can be a very challenging task. Huang will give you the tools and strategies to implement immediately to set off on the right foot, create and maintain a great balance in your teams and resolve any arising issues.
Solid five stars, great execution and narration.

Very helpful audiobook
Very helpful audiobook if you are new manager and need some support. I found a lot of great information about confidence, groups behavioral patterns, importance of a good first impression on your team and how to navigate tough conversations.
