Kept Me Guessing

Great suspect list. Keeps you guessing to end. BTW what is Campbell's first name-Murdor?

Boring

This was a complete disappointment after having listened to the first two books in this series. This was long and drawn out. There were way too many suspects and no clear motives for each suspect. I listened through to the end because I used a credit. It should’ve been free. There was just absolutely too much going on and the conclusion left me just as confused as the beginning did.
I’m very disappointed.

Enjoying this series a lot

This is the 3rd book in this series. Not only am I enjoying each individual mystery, but also the longer arc of character development across the books.

Beautifully written, the sense of place is always present, but descriptions never slow the narrative. Physical actions are easy to follow - not always an easy feat in books that feature a lot of action sequences.

The main character is unique in my experience of mystery fiction. Describing her too much would be a spoiler, so I’ll just say that she’s far more than she seems to be at 1st meeting.

I highly recommend this series and I’m hoping it continues.

Can’t wait for next book

I love this series, perhaps because of the narrator who was brilliant. One criticism is I don’t know enough about the main character, but that could be because the author is waiting to reveal more in future books.

Pleased I persevered with the first P.I Hanlon

I wasn't sure I was going to get away with the narration at first. I speeded up the reading of the first book by .5x and it was okay. After a few chapters I was hooked. Buried for good has been my favourite and I hope there are more to come. I think Hanlon is great. I have ended up really enjoying the narrator,.

Excellent All Round

This is part 3 of Hanlon as a private investigator and it’s the best of the trilogy. Great writing and characters and narrator Carolyn Bonnyman is perfect! Book 2 took a bit of a dip after enjoying book 1 but this was excellent. I love Hanlon’s character.. a very strong lead

Craggy Island Chaos

Strange tale of goings on with new agey yoga guru and an aged rock star, a hilarious knife throwing magician and a love affair when Hanlon has no chemistry whatsoever with Murdo. Well scripted, darkly funny at times crime romp. VERY ENTERTAINING

exciting and entertaining

I like reader very much. Her lovely accent is perfect for this story. I don't think I'd like the main character in real life but in this series I really enjoyed the tale very much.

My least favourite Alex Coombs book

I’ve listened to 2 other Alex coombs books and absolutely loved them, hence downloading the third but this one was not a patch on the other two. It just didn’t have the same liveliness and pace of the previous two, and also included in an element of the magical/psychic which I really didn’t like. It was ok but if I’d have read this one first, I wouldn’t have downloaded any of the authors other stories, which would have been a real shame.

Brilliant

Alex Coombs is my new favourite author. When I start his books I can't put them down until they finish.
Very real, complex characters. Also the narrator is perfect so I hope there is no change in the future.
Bring on the next book!

garbage. don't bother

This is much like the first novel in the series. The twist at the end makes no sense unless you ignore the key points of the story and leaves more questions than answers. The entire story is full of threads that lead nowhere, false accusations, terrible interview techniques, jumped to conclusions, and generally terrible judgement by our hero.
If you are looking for a detective story, this isn't it. This story has no evidence, no clues, and are only solved by Hanlon bumbling into a chance encounter that she needs to be rescued from.
The narrative is compelling just don't expect a good ending.

Loved the first two but this one is a bit silly

While the story’s plot line overall in the series has been great, the plot of this one was at times ridiculous and unbelievable. I literally groaned out aloud.

Please keep narrator and series going!!

These are becoming a new firm favourite, I am enjoying Hanlans character development as a PI and where this is heading. I didn’t listen to the DI series as prefer Bonnyman’s narration by far. She’s a brilliant find and should be doing more books in my opinion.

The complex interwoven plots and sideline investigative work to the usual police procedural is a refreshing change with a strong woman lead, great array of characters and some welcome comic moments, I’m loving it. Hope they continue and need more soon please!

Dissapointing

I wasn't impressed with this audiobook. I found the story weak and the narration was driving me to drink, what's with the long pauses between sentences. it was delivered in a monologue 👎
