Publisher's Summary

I'm working off my buttons.

But I'm also giving them away.

The more I fall for Crow, the more I want him to do the things that I want. Dinners, dates, and evenings at the beach.

Everything comes at a price, and quickly the hoard of buttons I worked hard to earn are depleted.

Will this go back and forth forever? Or will someone run out of their buttons first?

Buttons in a jar

This is the second book in this series and it was as wonderful as the first. I love Button. She is strong, determined and brilliant. Crow is sexy, disturbing and just as smart. They are equals in every way. I love Penelope Sky's writing. She brings this story to life with beautiful descriptions and imagination. The sex scenes are smoking hot and the violence is well placed throughout the book. I am impatiently waiting on book three and want it now.
The voice actors, Samantha Cook and Michael Ferraiuolo are excellent in these roles. Samantha Cook is Button, she is so well suited to her. Michael Ferraiuolo has one of the sexiest and most expressive, though subtle voices in romance audiobooks today. I am anxious for more from this team or author and actors♥️🖤

What a stupid story!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If there was a substance to the story besides repeated pornographic descriptions.

Would you ever listen to anything by Penelope Sky again?

Absolutely not.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Narrators were fine.

Any additional comments?

I bought this book because of the 4.5 star rating. I am not sure how to trust the rating systems anymore. The description said it was a psychological suspense. I thought it was a cheap porn.

Buttons

I love the story line and the insight to Pearl/Button and Crow. Now in this book crow does get to be a little monotonous about his NOT having feeling..

Well worth a credit!

Left me hanging..

I absolutely loved this book and in the end it said "Buttons and Pain is available now".... searched everywhere to find out it's not available until MAY 16th!!! Whatttt?!?! Why the heck would you say it's available when it's not??? I am not a patient person so I'm so sad when I thought I could move on with the Pearl and Crow saga :(

Really great Read

Even though this is a dark love story, it has its moments of beauty. These are twisted up people finding their own way with affection, and while this isn't a sweet feel good type of story, there are moments of sweetness, and there are moments that make you feel good.

The author has bridged the gap with this book, the gap that usually makes you feel pretty sick after the darker story lines with something different. While this type of love isn't for everyone, it is right for the two in the book.

The performers were great. Not one complaint. Both of them read beautifully and with just the right amount of emotion. I'm buying book three now and hoping its as good as this one :)

Whoa! Looooooooooove!

These series! OMG! Penelope Sky is a queen of dark! I was late to the series but I’m glad I’m here…

The series, so far, is amazing!

Crow and Button (pearl) beginning began with a snatching but over time their walls start to fall… this is dark suspenseful romance that’s riveting….

IF you don’t care for dark romance, please do us all a favor and skip the series and not give bad review…

I’m completely addicted and hooked!

Pearl and Crow continue

TRIGGERS in this book. We get to see a real bond starting to form with Crow and Pearl. Brother Cain still wants his revenge and ends up getting it. It was not pretty. Pearl and Crow grow closer after this and all 3 end up finding common ground in getting the ultimate revenge on Bones, the real monster in the story. Pearl ends up really falling hard for Crow, but he cannot own his feelings for her fully. Everyone he loves dies, so he can't allow that to happen with her. We don't get the end of the revenge or the love story in this book.... so heading off the see what happens in the next one. Narration was good by both.

Crow Barsetti & Pearl

"Anything is possible with me." -Crow

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Audible review. Dual POV. Book 2 of 6 in the Buttons series. Both narrators speak in an average American accent; Michael briefly adopts an Indian accent, a British accent, and an Italian accent. There is a repeated phrase error during one of Samantha's chapters. This portion of the series isn't as dark as book one. Trigger warnings: betrayal; trafficking; BDSM (flogging while bound, hanging, both Crow and Pearl dominate each other); choking; whipping; @n@l; and two brutal beatings.

Crow and Pearl is still enslaved by Crow and they are still using buttons as currency toward her freedom. Cane beat Pearl and Crow shot him in the arm. Bones & Crow meet, Crow offers him the $40 million Bones was willing to pay Cane for Pearl's return then $80 million when Bones turned him down but Bones refuses to accept either wanting Pearl back and then declaring war. Crow beat Cane for beating Pearl. Crow tells Pearl she's free but she stays. The police knock on Crow's door looking for Pearl, Crow lies to them and Pearl continues to stay. Cane apologized to Pearl, stating he wouldn't have beaten her if he'd known that Crow was in love with her. Pearl told Crow she loves him but he doesn't reciprocate. Pearl is kidnapped by a woman for $10 million from Bones but Pearl escapes w/her latest kidnapper's wallet and flies to America. JP

Buttons and Hate

Some of the story seemed to be a bit far fetched. I know it's fiction, but it seemed to stretch the boundaries of believability to the limit.
I love the fire behind Pearl. She is strong and feisty, Crow is her one weakness. Despite Crow's dismissal at times, she continues to push his limits.
I'm now invested in the storyline and want to see the outcome, so it's onto book 3...

A story of betrayal and hate, revenge and passion

What does Samantha Cook and Michael Ferraiuolo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Another outstanding performance by both Michael and Samantha. The rich profound dominance in his Michaels tone is sexy as hell and Samantha’s expressive emotions has you wiping your eyes and curling your toes.

Any additional comments?

I love Pearl and Crows story, I love the intrigue of it, the alluring, enticing, addictive push and pull of passion, hate and of course the hot sex scenes.
It’s the characters that lure you in so much to this storyline, Pearl is an incredibly strong and courageous heroine and although she has been through so much trauma she still has a kind and enduring heart will the ability to still not only believe in love but to hope for it.
