Story
After half a century of chaos, my retirement from leading the Community of Species Government has been bliss. No more hellhounds playing pranks. No more snippy demons demanding my attention. No more cajoling money from the wealthy to support the community. Just peace while I avoid my overbearing father and try to work out my next steps. Although...maybe three years of peace is enough. It might even be starting to get boring. In fact, an adolescent dragon crash-landing on my landlord's shed is just the kind of excitement I need - especially when he brings his species leader to my door.

I've been in love with my best friend since forever. Okay, fine. Like, kindergarten. It started out platonic, obviously, but then became.... Nope. Still platonic. The problem is that Parker Ellis has been straight since forever. And that makes it difficult to convince him that the two of us are meant to be together. And now, there's no point. All is lost. He's gone and gotten engaged to his high-school sweetheart - which means I have to grin and bear it, while pretending to be the happy, supportive best man, while he prepares to commit his life to a woman.

They say time heals all wounds, but it's been five years since my boyfriend died, and I haven't dated since. I threw myself into architecture, and thankfully, there's just no time to wallow or look for love. My friends push me to get back out there, but I'm not ready to be vulnerable again. Then I meet Kev. He dresses like a catalog model, but he talks like he's got an old soul. He shows me what I'm missing but holds his own heart just out of reach. I can't stop falling for him, and he might be worth taking a risk for. Can I believe in myself enough to win his trust and his heart?

The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

An enemies to lovers sports romance!

By: Lane Hayes
Publisher's Summary
"I'm walking away from that dream."
At 23, an undiagnosed heart condition sends pro hockey player Cameron Riley back to his hometown newly single and looking for work. Cam can't hide his past - especially when his heart racing is a big risk, and boy, does his new boss's nephew make his heart race. Noah's exactly the kind of guy Cam needs after his hellish ex.
Art curator Noah Clark is glad his beekeeping uncle hired this hunk. Cameron is a sweet, smart bad boy. Noah works hard, like organizing a hockey-themed art exhibition, and he wants to let himself love hard. Noah's busy life would be perfect with Cameron, but what's his new lover hiding?
Pitting Cam's budding relationship with sweet Noah against millions of bucks, Cam is offered a lot of money to abandon his new priorities: life, love, and family. The game of their lives is on the line. And after all's said and done, is it too late for Noah to forgive Cam for his partial truths?
Buzz is a steamy, standalone gay romance novel with a happily ever after ending and no cliffhanger.

Amazing
The greatness of this book, the series in fact, cannot be stated with enough adjectives.
Noah's soft heart and acceptance allow for a heartbroken Cameron to find a place of space in a world that is spinning off its axis.
From the first meeting to the last scene you feel the blossoming of love expressed in the between words. Those words and thoughts we keep to ourselves out of fear that they will not be welcomed.
Art curator and a forced retired hockey player navigate the landscape keeping each other in their sights, tethering one to the other and all that comes from it is beautiful.

Buzz
This book was good. Nothing truly note worthy. The Story between Cam and Noah is just a cute romance with no angst or Drama. Which is kind of nice. Sometimes you just need a sweet story to read and this would be it. I’ve read the book and the series before and they get better as the books go along.
Listening to the Audio of this book was a nice way to spend a few hours! Michael Pauley did a good job narrating this one. His voice is really nice to listen to and he does a good job keeping all the voices separate and putting enough emotion into them when needed.

An unusually cute m/m sports romance
Buzz is actually an unusually cute m/m sports romance. Why? Because generally when an athlete is forced to leave his chosen sport as Cameron was, he takes another sports-related job like coaching. So to see Cameron go into beekeeping made it a rather unique storyline. As someone who grew up in the part of the Florida Panhandle where Tupelo Honey is harvested, I have a healthy appreciation for bees and their keepers and found that aspect of the story to be quite lovely.
While I'm not an artist and don't have artistic bone in my body, I appreciated Noah's passion for art and wanted to hunt down the board member(s) who were making his job more difficult than it should have been. Granted, I loved the idea of the hockey-themed art installation at the arena and wanted to see it come to fruition. The description of the metal sculpture that Cam's brother made for the show was spectacular and made all of Noah's hard work worth it.
The relationship between the two men was an enjoyable one. They were well matched and despite some speedbumps and a major (but understandable) omission on Cameron's part, their relationship progressed quite nicely. While their attraction was obvious from the beginning, they took their time getting to know one another before they had sex. And their sexy times were steamy, especially the last one in the book.
While I enjoyed Michael Pauley's narration and thought he did a nice job in bringing Cam, Noah, and the others to life, I enjoy his romantic suspense and thriller performances more. Pauley has an edge to his voice that heightens the intensity and suspense in a scene. As Cam had a couple of confrontational moments in the book, Pauley's edge elevated those scenes.
The sports. The romance. The bees. The Riley Brothers. I'll certainly keep my eye out for future installments in the series to be released to audio as I was definitely entertained and would love to hear Jackson find his forever with Chase.
NOTE: I listened to this title via Audible's Romance Package.

Cameron Riley Finds Love
E Davies has become a favorite author of mine. She writes true-to-life characters and situations that a reader/listener can't help but get lost in the storytelling. In 'Buzz', middle Riley brother Cameron has his hickey career abruptly ended after developing a life-threatening heart condition. After returning home to New Brunswick, he meets local gallery curator Noah. The two quickly fall into what can only be described as the cutest couple ever.
The book makes for a nearly un-pausable listen. Some of the things I love about it: It's nearly angst-free. Cameron and Noah's relationship grows in a completely true-to-life way. All three Riley brothers have featured roles. Now I want to hear Jackson and Thomas' stories as well. My favorite aspect of the book is the smoothly-flowing dialogue written by E Davies and performed by Michael Dean. If you're looking for a story featuring adorable guys falling in love with a terrific setting and plot, this is the one you want.
Michael Dean has also quickly become a favorite of mine. His performance style suits this story perfectly. The voice acting is top-notch.
This audiobook was given to me, at my request, as a free review copy and I have written this voluntary opinion of it.
Highly recommended.

Great narration elevates a "just ok" story
This is the first book in the Riley Brothers series which centers (at least for the first three books) on brothers Cameron, Jackson and Thomas Riley. This book focuses on Cameron (Cam), a pro hockey player on the cusp of being drafted who then has it all unceremoniously ripped away due to an unexpected, undiagnosed heart condition that forces him off the ice, permanently. He returns back home, anxious, lost and confused, not really sure what’s wrong with him and if it can be fixed, and not knowing who he is or what he should do now that his hockey player dreams are gone. Cam temporarily moves in with his older brother Jackson after Cam’s ex-boyfriend (unforgivably) dumps him while Cam is laying in a hospital bed. This book uniquely provides us with Jackson’s point of view, as well as that of Cam and his other half, Noah Clark.
Noah is an art curator putting together a hockey-inspired exhibit and, falling in the “it’s a small world” category, has commissioned a large steel hockey piece from Cam’s brother Jackson. Cam initially meets Noah at a fair where Noah is manning his beekeeping Uncle’s booth, selling homemade honey and beekeeping supplies, and accepts a job as an apprentice working for Noah’s Uncle. Noah and Cam immediately hit it off and from their first touch, it is crystal clear that they have electric chemistry.
Everything in this story is fine - interesting plot, well-developed characters, likeable couple - but it’s really not much more than that. It seemed a bit flat to me in terms of emotional engagement and I’m not sure why because the groundwork was laid. I just couldn’t get invested in either Cam or Noah and the pacing and events were often slow. I think the art exhibit could have been expanded into something more problematic or angsty because those were the parts of the book that seemed the most disconnected from the romance.
Michael Dean’s narration, though, was definitely the highlight. As per usual, his narration is excellent. He embodies these characters with totally distinct voices, and his cadence and pacing are just right, enabling him to achieve just the right delivery for every word he says. I recommend reading and listening to this story because his vocalization of the characters is a definite value add. I’m interested to hear the next book which focuses on Jackson. Ironically, I found him to be one of the most interesting characters from Buzz so there’s definite promise for his own love story in Book 2.

Great listen
I read this book quite a while back and remembered that I liked it so with Michael Dean as the narrator, I knew the audiobook had to be amazing. I was right. Michael does such a great job of bringing characters to life and adding a dimension to the book that would otherwise be missed. It helps when it is such a great story. One unique part is that E. Davies included Cameron's brother Patrick's point of view instead of just keeping it to Cameron and Noah.
I really enjoyed the developing relationship between the two men, especially with everything happening in their lives. The story was well developed in that you could see the natural progression of how things grew instead of everything being shared too soon (or unrealistically).
I look forward to listening to the other books in the series, especially with Michael as the narrator.

Hockey player turned beekeeper
Buzz is the first book in the Riley Brothers series and after finishing the Significant Brothers series, I found it to be similar in feel regarding the pacing, sweet storyline, and characters with a fairly high heat factor.
I was drawn to listen to Buzz because Cameron was a hockey player; but that was not a big part of the story, at least not in terms of time on the ice. It factors in to the overall story theme, but it is not a sports-romance. When Cameron moves home and starts working in bee keeping, I found the transition smooth without any difficulty. The whole story is low-angst.
A couple of things I found not as successful to me for the story was the fact that a couple of chapters were in Cameron's brother Jackson's POV. I was not sure what that was accomplishing to the plot and it confused me when it first came about. Also, I would have liked a little more "wrapping up" of some threads in the story that were left dangling. They may come up again further into the other brothers' stories, but I felt like I was missing a few things at the end.
The narration was very good and made the characters come alive. I enjoyed listening to the story so much that I think liked it better in audio than I would have reading it in print.

so sweet and swoon worthy
A great series opener for the Riley brothers. Cam and Noah are so sweet together I just loved being swept along on their journey. There chemistry was off the charts and was really well written I could actually feel it!
I look forward to hearing the rest of the Brother's stories!!!!

Another great contemporary romance from E Davies!
E. Davies writes contemporary romance so well, and this sweet story was no exception! Cameron and Noah were immediately engaging, likable characters for me, and I loved seeing how fate drew them together. Instead of leaning into the scary, potentially life-threatening medical diagnosis, this book managed to keep its upbeat, optimistic tone. I was initially worried that Cameron's condition would be used to create angsty drama in his relationship with Noah, but thankfully that wasn't the case here. On the whole, this story was extremely low angst, considering how many secrets Cameron kept from Noah for so long, and it was refreshing to see two men who could calmly communicate instead of blowing up into fights whenever something unexpected crossed their paths. Outside of the adorable romance, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how Cameron transitioned from a pro-athlete lifestyle to being back in his hometown. It was fun to learn the ins and outs of beekeeping and get a glimpse into how stressful the life of an art curator can be. I thought Michael Dean did a great job narrating Noah and Cameron's story, though I have to admit that I personally was not a fan of the voice he chose for Noah. I'm really looking forward to reading (or listening) about the other Riley brothers!
**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

I always know I can count on E. Davies to write romance with love scenes that all but melt your headphones. What I also have loved about every book I've read is that the characters will have interesting jobs that help develop the plot of the story and that I will get some behind the scenes looks at what goes on in those jobs. Here, we have beekeeping and art exhibit curation. The Sherlock Holmes fan in me loved every mention of the bees and how perfect is a plot where a retired hockey player meets the curator staging an exhibit in a hockey rink? Normally we have an actor or rock star that a main character meets without knowing who he is, I liked the change to a hockey player here. Michael Dean brings all the characters to life perfectly. You can actually hear Cameron's physical limitations in his voice at times.

Noah and Cameron 💚💙
Cameron Riley has been benched because of a heart condition. He was young and on his way to stardom. Bummed... He goes back home and meets Noah. It’s an instant connection. Guarding his secret from Noah almost makes them come apart. I liked the characters and how they work everything out. Love and understanding all the way. There are bees to be taken care of too. Good narration by Mr Dean.

Overall a sweet story
This is a sweet story of an injured (for want of a better word) ice hockey player returning to his home town after quitting his team.
Ed Davies is one of my favourite authors but here you can tell this is one of their early books. There are overlapping periods of time where we get the previous scene from another person's pov. And not even the other MC. For some reason we quite regularly get Cam's brother, Jackson's pov. And he doesn't particularly add anything to the story. For me his pov is completely unnecessary. And the jumps back and forth made it hard to keep track of the passage of time. I also thought the book lacked focus in places and had a few glaring plot holes (surely the players on the field hockey team would recognise a local boy who'd gone on to play for the minor leagues, would Cam not have been a celebrity of sorts).
But despite my misgivings the relationship is sweet and both MC are likeable. The blurb implies an angst ridden story that never appears. An easy gentle listen and Michael Dean does a good job with the narration.

Entertaining Story, M. Dean is Fantastic Here!
Wow, E. Davies sure knows how to write chemistry between their characters!
An entertaining start to Davies' Riley Brothers series, Buzz gives just enough info about the 0ther two brothers to leave me craving the next episode (good thing I've got it ready to go!). Between the friendly people and the picturesque descriptions of this small Canadian town, I'm intrigued.
And Davies' smoking hot love scenes are the icing on the cake. LOL, icing you get it? Yes, one of the MCs is a hockey player, but there aren't many sports scenes here so non-hockey fans don't worry, this is pure romance.
The audio for the Riley Brothers series is performed by Michael Dean who does a wonderful job with it. A good match up for the sweet, laid back characters - plus no body can read erotica better.

Story was great, third POV confusing
I really enjoyed the overall story of Cam and Noah. I thought they were amazing together and really seemed to fit. I had no issues at all with their story and loved the beekeeping side of it. They were definitely a couple worth reading about.
I didn't understand why we kept getting chapters with Jackson. It was distracting and took me out of the storyline, sometimes completely. Especially when he found the note left by Nathan. His chapters rarely had anything to do with Cameron and Noah.

Beautiful
This is one of those books that is such a good addition to a library because it is nice and low angst and drama. The characters were so well developed and I loved that it was such a light novel. Until I began listening to this one I didn’t realise how stressed I was but this one definitely helped by giving me something positive to listen to. It should also be noted that this one has some amazing chemistry and heat. Definitely worth a credit
