Publisher's Summary

Sometimes to truly know a person, you have to read between the lines.

Isabelle is completely lost. When she first began her career in publishing after college, she did not expect to be twenty-five, still living at home, and one of the few Black employees at her publishing house. Overworked and underpaid, constantly torn between speaking up or stifling herself, Izzy thinks there must be more to this publishing life. So when she overhears her boss complaining about a beastly high-profile author who has failed to deliver his long-awaited manuscript, Isabelle sees an opportunity to prove her worth and finally get the recognition she deserves. All she has to do is go to the author's Santa Barbara mansion and give him a quick pep talk or three. How hard could it be?

But Izzy quickly finds out she is in over her head. Beau Towers is not some celebrity lightweight writing a tell-all memoir. He is jaded and withdrawn and—it turns out—just as lost as Izzy. But despite his standoffishness, Izzy needs Beau to deliver, and with her encouragement, his story begins to spill onto the page. They soon discover they have more in common than either of them expected, and as their deadline nears, Izzy and Beau begin to realize there may be something there that wasn't there before.

Best-selling author Jasmine Guillory's reimagining of a beloved fairy tale is a tale as old as time . . . for a new generation.

Waterworks

I don’t know what I expected but this was far from it and I’m glad.
I am typically a nonfiction reader and just recently started looking into more fiction books. I didn’t read the description on this, so it was all a surprise for me. This story was amazing! I cried in my car while traveling, I felt like I was apart of the story always replying back to the characters! Get the book. You won’t regret it.

Wonk Wonk

Oh dear what happened... this is the 2nd JG book that has been an utter disappointment. I keep looking for the Wedding Date and the Proposal level writing. I fell in love with those characters and their stories. This book blah blah bland boring. I want a refund..

Great story

Good read. I loved the building of a friendship before the romance. Could have at least one sex scene.

Great story

Literally, my only complaint is that the narrator pronounces library as ‘libary’ several times…silly, I know, but it got under my skin.

Good book but needs a male reader the female reader did not do the man justice. The words did not ring true.

Beautifully Written and Told

This book has become an instant favorite of mine. I’m a sucker for a good love story and the author delivers. I loved the nudges to beauty and the beast in a modern day non-magical world. The narration made the story feel enchanted and I couldn’t stop listening.

Cute

This novel was a nice escape from reality. I enjoyed the story line and the connections to Beauty and the Beast. But there were some really predictable parts were the characters were being over the top that made me have to put the book down for a few weeks. Over all I enjoyed the book and it had a pleasant ending.

Such a Cute Story

This book grabbed my interest immediately! This was my first Jasmine Guillory book and I plan to read more! From beginning to end it was amazing. I even liked the Beauty and the Beast references. Can’t wait to listen to more!

A story for writers and book lovers

Magical romantic story. Great escape. Unlike other romance stories it
is more romance and less sex. Is it predictable? Yes, but isn’t that what you are looking for? It’s like a hallmark Christmas movie. Narrator was a delight.

Fun time

This is a quick and fun read, particularly good for summer holidays. Sarah Hollis is an ok narrator. Also Issie and BOE have great chemistry. Fun time
