Publisher's Summary
Venus Thibodeaux had a reputation for being trouble. Some said she started at birth. When she finally left Sinful shortly after turning 18, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. When she blew back into town four years later, no one was happy about her return. She immediately launched into her same old scams, picking off Sinful residents with ease before disappearing again as quickly as she’d appeared.
Everyone assumed she’d headed back to New Orleans.
But when an accident at the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Run uncovers her body, everyone Venus took for a ride becomes a suspect. The man at the top of that list sees the writing on the wall and hires Fortune to figure out who killed Venus, before he goes to prison for a murder he didn’t commit. Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie start poking around into Venus’ complicated life, hoping to find the killer. And to solve their first official case.

Love the ladies antics!
This series is so much fun to listen to. Thank you again Wayne (Matthews, NC) for his glowing reviews of this series. Being a hardcore listener of the mystery/thriller genre I tend to stay away from cozy type books. This series however is an exception! I really enjoy the humor and the shenanigans between between Fortune , Ida Belle and Gertie. Kind of makes you feel sorry for Carter (Fortune’s boyfriend)!!
I think Cassandra Campbell does an amazing job narrating. Every character’s voice is different and easy to distinguish.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

2.5 Stars - I hated some parts and loved the rest
2.5 Stars! I hated the beginning but loved the rest. This is probably my least favorite book even though some of my favorite things happened in this book. Cajun Fried Felony is book 15 in A Miss Fortune Mystery series. The series is set in Sinful, Louisiana, USA and follows Fortune, who up until book 12 was a CIA assassin in hiding, and old ladies Gertie and Ida Belle, who are lifelong Sinful residents and ex-spy war veterans, as they help solve a string of various crimes and murders.
This series is the first series of Cozy Mystery books that I have read. Cozy Mystery is a new-to-me genre and I am hooked. Once I listened to the first Miss Fortune Mystery series book, I couldn't stop. I have listened to all of the books back to back and now I am super sad that there aren't any more audiobooks yet and there is only one more written book released in the series that I am going to start reading now. I don't know what I will do with out my favorite Sinful characters that I have gotten to know over the past almost month.
I recommend reading/listening to these books in order since each book builds upon the prior book's story and it makes it much more entertaining and enjoyable to go in order. I'm sure you could still enjoy these books as standalone but it won't be the same.
Let me start by saying that I absolutely loathed the first couple chapters in this book. I don't care where you live or what your local traditions are, I will never feel okay about terrorizing animals for sport. I think that is cruel. The activities in the beginning of this book were written in a way that they were meant to be light and funny but I could not get past what those stupid games and contests do to the animals being chased and tackled and used for sport and entertainment prior to their being killed. It adds insult to injury.
Cajun Fried Felony is the Thanksgiving edition of this series. During the course of one of the aforementioned animal terrorizing games, Gertie gertied and had a mishap that uncovered a body that had been hidden. Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie are all set to let Carter handle this one since they don't have any mutual interests that would warrant involvement, but when the signs start pointing to Swamp Bar owner, Whiskey, he hires Swamp Team 3 to investigate the murder so he doesn't go down for something he didn't do. There are lots of twists and turns in this book.
One of my favorite things in Cajun Fried Felony was watching Carter work together with Fortune and the ladies rather than the ladies going behind his back and lying to him. They make a fantastic team. I also really loved that Carter and Fortune are finally telling each other outright that they love one another. They are perfect together so I'm happy to see their relationship continue to develop.
Another side storyline in this book is that Walter asked Ida Belle to marry him...again.
If you like books with a big dose of humor, this is the series for you. I have found myself laughing out loud too many times to count.
The same narrator reads for the whole series. She did great for the first 11 books, then books 12 and 13 were a bit sloppy, almost like she was just rushing through, making errors such as incorrect words read and using the wrong character name. She seems back to usual again so I thought this was a good audiobook. I like that her voices are consistent from book to book. I look forward to more of this series being narrated and hopefully this narrator will be the one to read it.

Yet another good chuckle surprise book
I thought this is the time I say quit reading this series I know the plot outlines now but again just when you think this is what’s going to happen a surprise twist, laugh, and you say wait there’s more, a hook at the end of the book so the reader wants the next in series written
Enjoy the escape, the laughs and the southern quotes
Loved all the books in this series.

More fun than a barrel of monkeys!
Book 15 in Jana DeLeons Miss Fortune series is a great cozy/humorous mystery as Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie go about solving the murder of one of Sinful's least reputable citizens. This episode is as wonderful as we fans of the series have come to expect. The real shock comes in the final 15 seconds of the audio book. Cassandra Campbell's narration is as outstanding as usual.
This week has been interesting with five of my pre-orders being released on Tuesday. Determining the order of listening has bee difficult. The fact that I listened to only the latest Mitch Rapp novel before CAJUN FRIED FELONY speaks to how much I like the Miss Fortune series.

I love this series! The lady's antics are hilarious and the books are just fun and usually keep me guessing to the end. I also want to say that the narration is spot on. I like it when each book in a series is performed by the same person, and Cassandra Campbell is perfect. I am impressed with her consistency with the different voices from book to book, and each character's voice matches their personality to a T!

I Love These Ladies So Much!
If ever I feel miserable or down, stories from Sinful guarantee a smile.
I had to listen to this in a few sections, but the story was so strong it never needed a recap. Had less on the romance side (good), and more delving into the residents past history and backstories (even better). Finished on a very high note. Still smiling now.

First Official Case - Fabulous!
If this is your first Fortune/Sinful novel, put it down!!! Instead, go right back to the beginning of the series, because this won’t mean anything to you!
Gertie has become an verb! Given her exploits, it’s been a long time coming! Ida Belle receives a marriage proposal, and gets her booty spanked at the bar where she, Gertie and Fortune are actually running the bar for the foreseeable future - the first night doesn’t go that well!!!
All of this happens in the pursuit of their day to day enquires investigating their case. The usual fun and chaos ensures! If you aren’t laughing by the first 5 minutes, you may as well stop listening...
