Publisher's Summary

Why do we find sexuality so, well...scary?

Comedian Mae Martin investigates in this hilarious and intelligent guide to 21st-century sexuality. Covering everything from the pros and cons of labels to coming out and the joys of sexual fluidity, Mae ponders all the stuff we get hung up about - and then a bit more.

Mae's mission is to ensure that in a world that's full of things to worry about, who we choose to kiss should not be one of them. And when it comes to sexuality, she asks: can everyone please calm down?

A must-read for all young people and their parents

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook from start to finish. (Disclaimer: I am a fan of Mae Martin's comedic style.) It is authentic and genuinely funny, yet at the same time it is trauma-informed. She's reached a stage where she is not throwing raw trauma narratives out. She's processed it and you can feel the care for an audience that is largely young people growing up in toxically heteronormative societies. If something like this had been around when I was younger, I might not have had to wait till my 40s to come out.

Love it!!

Absolutely wonderfully beautiful, funny and so, so interesting. Mae Martin is already my favorite comedian, and their view on sexuality, genders and acceptance is, in my opinion, the best I've ever heard, and I completely agree with them. The performance is perfect, and I recomend this book for EVERYONE!

Amazing Mae Matin shares her insight

This is a fun listen about some important issues and concepts. The best thing about it is Mae's delivery and persona, which does come through, but she also offers a clear, calm and nuanced introduction to some key LGBTQ+ issues and experiences.

A very enjoyable listen

I love Mae's open-minded perspective and rejection of labels. But that she's also totally respectful of those who find them helpful and/or of comfort. Let each person choose how they do or don't define themselves.

And the impressions of her mum are hilarious every time.
