Publisher's Summary

The title of this audiobook, Can I See Your Hands, refers to one of the key outcomes of this audiobook - being able to tell whether or not people want to cause us harm. To put it very simply, if you can see someone's hands and they are not concealing them, holding a weapon or positioning to strike you, one's levels of trust and confidence can increase. This simple example can serve as a reminder to all of us in many of the complex moments we have to deal with, and difficult decisions we have to make, in everyday life.

90% fluff

What a waste of time. The first part of the book tells you why you should buy a book like that. The middle part gives very general, 30,000 foot overview concepts repeated in different ways. The last part attempts to give you some tips but it is nothing that the average person does not know. However, if you are a person who does not know that you should not flash money around in a bad neighborhood attempting to get robbed so you can practice what it is like to be robbed, doesn’t know not to use easy passwords and doesn’t know not to let strangers look over your shoulder at the ATM then maybe you will get some thing out of the last hour of this book.

All theoretical and no practical

Too academic. It's an outline of hiw to develop your ownal security process, without real world recommendations or opinions.

Surprisingly good

I found this very interesting and consumable. I can switch off if a book isn't resonating with me and I was captivated through the entire book. I made a note to revisit this again in six months. While some of it may seem obvious.... when it is presented with anecdotal evidence I found it really enjoyable and relatable.

Well thought and extremely helpful.

Enjoyed the book and the information strsight to the point. By the end of the book, I became more aware to the things in my life that were a vulnerability, and how to make myself a harder target. Well done book.

Hard eye roll

The information contained herein in great, but if we could get the info without the ridiculous anti-video game propaganda that would be great. The author even blames MMA for modern violence, it's like listening to my Grandma talk about self defense.

Too little practicum, too much conjecture.

Helps get you in the right mindset.

This puts you in the mindset of “I’m not going to be victimized.” The practices mentioned at simple and the presentation is easy to understand. Great listen and it’s quick.

Live in the Yellow zone

The basic premise is be aware of your situation all the time when away from home. Even when on holiday. And why.
Well structured.
Thought provoking.
Reminded me of a Pinkerton’s briefing I was given in Brazil. Always enlightening.

Useful applicable information

A practical and useful introduction to basic concepts and practices for a wide range of situations that can help us achieve better safety and security in our lives. Nicely narrated too.
