Publisher's Summary

The more you resist,

the deeper you’ll fall

Serafine St. Romain doesn’t need her psychic powers to know she’s no longer in Tyler Leshuski’s good graces. True, she did tear him to pieces when he asked her out, accusing him of being shallow and selfish. Despite the energy crackling between them, the gorgeous sports writer is a no-strings, no-kids kind of guy. And Serafine, raised in the foster system, intends to be a foster parent herself. She won’t compromise that dream, even for a man as annoyingly appealing as Tyler.

In a simpler world, Tyler would already have gotten Serafine out of his system. For him, women equal fun. Not this kind of bone-deep, disconcerting desire. Life gets even more complicated when he becomes the guardian of his much younger sister. Suddenly, he’s way out of his depth. Serafine’s the only person who can connect with Kylie. He can’t jeopardize that for a fling.

But maybe...just maybe...he’s finally ready to risk everything on forever.

The narrative ruined it

I could not finish it, because the narrator was horrible to listen to. Every woman sounded like they were angry all the time, and the kids sounded like everything they said was a complaint.

Oh, the narrator!

So, this book was better than the first in the series but, still, it was barely enjoyable. Why? The narrator! He was over the top, loud and obnoxious. The men sounded almost angry and exasperated. The women, on the verge of losing it in hysteria. And the kids, dumb and annoying. It was hard to digest, especially after the great and balanced job done by Patrick Zeller in the first book. What a waste of a great story.

ew

a bit too much graphic sex for me. really don't need to have descriptions of oral sex in a novel.

Narration

The voice of Sarafin friend who was 28 yrs old or older sounded as young as the 10 yr old Mattie. Some of the other characters sounded like Italian mobsters. I liked the story line though and the narrator of the 1st book better.

Narrator Ruined the Book

I don’t know if the story was good or not because the narrator was so bad I returned the book.
The narrator of the first book of the series did an excellent job of narrating that book.
This narrator totally ruined the main female character’s accent. Her accent in the first book was a strong Cajun or New Orleans accent, which was a big part of who she was. In this book it was a slight southern accent. The other female characters from the first book did not sound at all like they did in the first book and the female and children’s voices were not appropriate for the characters.
There needs to be quality control by the publishers and by Audible.

Awful narrator!!

Great story. I cannot stand to listen to the narrator. Women sound like lisping children. Matty sounds like he’s 3. He’s NOT. The narrator could definitely take a lesson from the man that narrated A Heartbeat Away. I’m definitely not getting Mary’s story if I have to hear his voice again.

This was a great book

This book was worth the wait! This is not your typical love story but I really liked it. I couldnt tell what would happen not a fairy tale but ver alluring, heartfelt and deeply emotional. The character breeched the issues of trust abandonment and issues we inherit from our parents!!!

Bad narration.

The story was cute, much like the one before it but what nearly ruined it for me was the narrator. He gave all the characters such an awful, over exaggerated New York accent and it was super annoying to listen to. I have an inability to leave a story unfinished so I powered through it anyway, but be warned!

A good listen overall

I agree with other reviews that the narrator does not do well with the voices of women and children. He went too strong on accents, BUT the the two main characters are good. The emotion the narrator portrays at the end is excellent. All prior annoyances are forgiven by the end of the book. It’s a sweet story.

Shouldn’t have male narrator does female voice

I tried out this book because I really enjoyed the Call Me Maybe and Sweet Talk from this author. But the narrator is too horrible, I don’t think I can even finish the book at this point. They should hire a female narrator for the female characters.
