Story
John Grisham is the acknowledged master of the legal thriller. In his first collection of novellas, law is a common thread, but America’s favorite storyteller has several surprises in store. “Homecoming” takes us back to Ford County. Jake Brigance is back, but he’s not in the courtroom. In “Strawberry Moon,” we meet Cody Wallace, a young death row inmate only three hours away from execution. The “Sparring Partners” are the Malloy brothers, Kirk and Rusty, two young lawyers who inherited a once prosperous firm when its founder, their father, was sent to prison.

Story
Leah and McKenna have never met, though they have parallel lives. They don’t—ever—find themselves in the same train carriage or meet accidentally at the gym or the coffee shop. They don’t—ever—discuss their problems and find common ground. They don’t—ever—acknowledge to each other that although their lives have all the trappings of success, wealth and happiness, they are, in fact, trapped.

By the time playwright and actor Shawn Frost had won two Tony Awards by his late 20s, he was seen as a theater prodigy—a meteoric rise that the performing arts community had not witnessed in almost a hundred years. His work? Shakespearean in scope, character, and popularity—boundless and beautiful. His own character? Flawed. And in a place like New York City, where failings get magnified, Shawn Frost finds that, even from the heights of artistic sublimity, no one is insulated from the demons that have caused the best of entertainers to fall from grace.

Publisher's Summary
An engrossing, breakout stand-alone suspense novel with heart by New York Times best-selling and Emmy Award-winning author Matt Goldman
Joey Green has returned to Beaufort, South Carolina, with its palmettos and shrimp boats, to look after his ailing father, who is succumbing to dementia, while his overstressed mother takes a break. Marshall Green’s short-term memory has all but evaporated, but, as if in compensation, his oldest memories are more vivid than ever. His mind keeps slipping backward in time, retreating into long-ago yesterdays of growing up in Beaufort as a boy.
At first, this seems like a blessing of sorts, with the past providing a refuge from a shrinking future, but Joey grows increasingly anxious as his father’s hallucinatory arguments with figures from his youth begin to hint at deadly secrets, scandals, and suspicions long buried and forgotten. Resurfacing from decades past are mysteries that still have the power to shatter lives—and change everything Joey thought he knew.
Especially when a new murder brings the police to his door....
Both suspenseful and deeply moving, Carolina Moonset is an engrossing novel about family, memories both golden and terrible, and secrets too dangerous to stay hidden forever, from New York Times best-selling and Emmy Award-winning author Matt Goldman.

Goldman’s best yet!
I miss Nils Shapiro, but this stand alone novel is truly excellent. Witty and heartfelt, it is a mystery and a tale of family told with literary skill and a palpable grace and charm. The narration is perfect and the compelling story keeps shifting to offer new revelations and facets in the unraveling of the tale.

Brilliant storytelling!
This is the 4th book in a row that I’ve listened to by Matt Goldman. This is my favorite so far. The characters have real depth. It’s a fine mesh of mysteries, touching family circumstances and romance. The romance is not the focus of the book but a well balanced thread in the story.
Highly recommended!

Suspenseful
This book was suspenseful, successful, witty and warm. I loved this book just as much as the other books by this writer. I'm a terrible writer so I feel bad that my review won't do the book or the writer justice but just had to say something to show my gratitude. Matt Goldman is so gifted, he can bring a complete character to life with just two words! It's uncanny. Listening to audible with earbuds in and laughing out loud in response to Matt's witty humor is my favorite thing to do! Thank you and I look forward to the next book.

I really enjoyed this book. Good writing, characters and plot. I especially liked the setting in Buford, South Carolina. After going to Hilton Head for several years, I have passed the turnoff to Buford. I never had an interest in seeing Buford. I do now and next time I go by the exit I will definitely check it out. Sounds like a great place.
