In January 1973, Richard Nixon had just been inaugurated after winning re-election in a historic landslide. He enjoyed an almost 70 percent approval rating. But by April 1973, his presidency had fallen apart as the Watergate scandal metastasized into what White House counsel John Dean called “a full-blown cancer.” King Richard is the intimate, utterly absorbing narrative of the tension-packed hundred days when the Watergate conspiracy unraveled as the burglars and their handlers turned on one another, exposing the crimes of a vengeful president.

Almost 50 years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, his murder continues to haunt the American psyche and stands as a turning point in our nation’s history. The Warren Commission rushed out its report in 1964, but questions continue to linger: Was there a conspiracy? Was there a coup at the highest levels of government? On March 1, 1967, New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison shocked the world by arresting local businessman Clay Shaw for conspiracy to murder the president.

Marina and Lee is one of the best and truest audiobooks about the Kennedy assassination. Priscilla Johnson McMillan came to the story with a unique knowledge of the two main characters. In the 1950s she knew Kennedy well for a time when he was hospitalized with Addison's disease. She talked to him frequently, brought him books, knew his wife, and formed a strong opinion of the sort of man he was. What is astonishing is that she also knew Lee Harvey Oswald.

Jerusalem is the universal city, the capital of two peoples, the shrine of three faiths; it is the prize of empires, the site of Judgement Day and the battlefield of today’s clash of civilizations. From King David to Barack Obama, from the birth of Judaism, Christianity and Islam to the Israel-Palestine conflict, this is the epic history of three thousand years of faith, slaughter, fanaticism and coexistence. Publisher's Summary
The assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, continues to inspire interest ranging from well-meaning speculation to bizarre conspiracy theories and controversial filmmaking. But in this landmark audiobook, reissued with a new afterword for the 40th anniversary of the assassination, Gerald Posner examines all of the available evidence and reaches the only possible conclusion: Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.
There was no second gunman on the grassy knoll. The CIA was not involved. And although more than four million pages of documents have been released since Posner first made his case, they have served only to corroborate his findings. Case Closed remains the classic account against which all books about JFK's death must be measured.

Stop Being Fooled
I hear so many people say that they know "facts" that "prove" that the murder of JFK was a conspiracy. Unfortunately, most of these "facts" were gleaned from books written by authors who have no basis for their claims and statements. This book is different. While Vincent Bugliosi's "Reclaiming History" is far more thorough, if you don't have time to listen to that work, this book is your next best book.

Case Closed, Indeed
I was a conspiracy theorist until I noticed that no major theorist ever presented EVIDENCE. Only questions, innuendo, half-truths and unfair accusations. That, evidence does not make. Then the Zapruder film was scanned and enhanced and slowed down showing EVIDENCE of the headshot being from the rear. So I searched out books that might try to support the Warren Commission’s findings. Case Closed is a phenomenal work and I feel stupid for ever buying Oliver Stone, Jim Garrison and the like. Conspiracy theorists are the best creative writers of our time.

Unconvincing story line
Doesn't present any new theories on the assassination of the president. Simply attempts to discredit others while not providing his own thesis. If you want to get information on the assassination of President Kennedy then give this book a try, but overall there is not anything of significance in this book not already known.

Case Still Closed!
I read this book a number of years ago and wanted to give it a new listen recently. I agree with Mr. Posner and his evidence 100%. If Oswald had not been killed the evidence in a trial would have been overwhelming and even with his death it still is.
Case Closer Oswald did it. It’s a shame the Stone movie based on Jim Garrison’s lunacy received so much attention and a bigger shame on him for the people he hurt.

Giving the truth - with some attitude
Would you listen to Case Closed again? Why?
This book requires more than one hearing. It has details and information that may take a bit to sink in - especially when it contradicts with the conspiracy "proof" that has bombarded us for generations. The author holds nothing back when he goes through the timeline step by step. Even better - and in sharp contrast to many previous authors - he gives the background and/or personal issues of the witnesses. Unlike many previous authors or theorists on the assassination, Posner does not take each witness report like gospel. He discusses how statements have changed over the years or how photographic evidence counters the human remembrance of the day. He points out where the government made mistakes as well. In addition, he shows how the conspiracy theories have had to be adjusted to fit when new technology allows for a better understanding of the physical evidence.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The author's voice comes through in such a clear fashion - particularly when he shows an amused sarcasm at the wilder theories of the conspiracy followers. The narrator does a wonderful job in his portrayal of the author as well.
Have you listened to any of Scott Aiello’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
While I wanted to listen to this book straight through in one sitting, it wasn't feasible. I would gladly take it on a long drive or plane ride - talk about passing the time with something interesting!
Any additional comments?
If the only background you have of the JFK assassination comes from Oliver Stone's movie JFK? You have to listen to Case Closed.

well documented and researched. It is hard to deny Oswald wasn't the lone assassin after listening to this presentation. Most people cannot fathom a diminutive loser could bring down a person as dynamic as JFK. The sun, the moon and the stars aligned in Dallas that day and created one of the most tragic events in history.

Follow the Evidence
This is an example of thorough, evidence led journalism. It is a book which starts with the man at the centre of the story, Lee Harvey Oswald. You learn so much about him, it really gives you an idea of his character and his philosophy. The first half of the book is a necessary portrait of man who is otherwise buried and forgotten under a pile of alternative theories regarding the JFK assassination. it is the essential piece of evidence at the heart of the whole tale, which is otherwise miraculously forgotten. It is a wonder that Oliver Stone's movie is the only movie out there! The unadulterated facts are far more fascinating.
If you are looking for answers and would like to know why the well repeated conspiracy stories are really only afloat because of everyone keeps repeating them: listen to this book.
As an aside I had this on my "to read list" for a good couple of years. This book was much more appealing as an audio book as it was handy and gave many hours of interesting listening. I may just read the book too, I certainly will be investigating Mr Posner's other books.
