Publisher's Summary

When Cassie Coburn moved to London, she never thought she'd be involved in a quadruple homicide.

After a car accident ended her medical career before it even started, Cassie moved to London on a whim, expecting to see the sights and live the typical tourist backpacker lifestyle.

Instead she finds herself accompanying a French private detective, Violet Despuis, as they attempt to find out who poisoned four people in the middle of London.

Cassie's life soon includes this crazy detective, an ancient landlady with a curious past, a mischievous orange cat who likes going for walks on a leash, and a super hot pathologist that Cassie is sure is out of her league.

And they haven't even found the murderer yet...

Follow Cassie through the streets of London in this boxed set containing the following novels by Samantha Silver: Poison in Paddington, Bombing in Belgravia and Whacked in Whitechapel.

Terrible accent

Why would you tape a British cozy by someone who sounds Australian? Very disappointed. If you need someone who can do transatlantic accents contact me, or anyone else who has been brought up transatlanticly.. There is no excuse in this world to have inappropriate accents.

Cassie Coburn Mysteries books 1 -3

I have had this series on my Audible list for quite a while but the sample listens didn’t seem appealing. After wasting my time & money on a couple of duds, I figured I would give this boxed set a try, after all it was offered @ 1 credit for 3 books. Wow, was I impressed! This is an author who actually knows how to write an adult cozy mystery series & uses a narrator who can do various voices, male & female, that sound legit. And the storylines are very believable. How refreshing! Of course I’ve already purchased more in this series. I recommend others to give it a try as well.

Good premise, bad narration

The narrator has a pleasant voice, does a great job with the main character (an American), and clearly makes a good effort to vocally differentiate the characters, but the story takes place in London and her British accents are terrible. I wanted to like the stories--cozies are a nice escape--but accents aside, I was having trouble reconciling someone who was trained to be a surgeon at a top-notch university who was so bad at decision-making and so painfully immature. Even allowing for the career-ruining accident, depression, and the lack of social skills that many highly-focused professionals can have, the main character's behavior and inner dialogue don't ring true. However, if you don't mind the character-plot inconsistencies or the British and French accents, the premise and the French-Sherlock-Holmeian character Violet DuPris could be entertaining, as suggested by the many reviews. I suspect the Amazon reviews are better because people voice their own characters rather than rely on a narrator.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THESE BOOKS

So, I have discovered recently that I really enjoy cozies with a mixture of American and British accents. This series gets bonus points for adding a French accent, as well. Cassie is a very relatable character - smart but not always self assured. Violet is almost a characature of an arrogant French woman, very much like a female Hercule Poirot. She denies it, saying she is not Belgian, but I can almost hear Poirot speaking of his little gray cells when Violet speaks. Their adventures are fun. Their repertoire natural. Their relationship enjoyable. Oh, and, yes, there is a cute guy.
