Publisher's Summary

Leader of the vampire clan MoonBound, Hunter will do what he must to save his people from extinction - or worse, a torturous eternity as vampire slaves and subjects of human experimentation. To keep his enemies at bay, he has agreed to mate a rival clan leader's daughter in return for peace between the clans and an ally in the looming war with the humans.

But survival comes at a price. First, Hunter must break an ancient curse by successfully negotiating three deadly tests. Then he must resist the searing passions of the gorgeous vampire warrior he despises but is bound to mate with. Will Hunter stay true to his word? Or will he risk everything for the woman he really loves: the vampire seductress' identical twin sister?

Why so few books?

I probably should have done some more research before getting the first novel, in this series. I am really loving the stories and the characters and I thought I was going to have another juicy series to sink my teeth in. I was wrong. There are only two novels and a novella, written in this series. Such a disappointment. Apparently, these three books are related to a few of her other series; but there won’t be a story about every warrior in the Moonbound clan. We can only hope this author returns to this series, in the future, to write more books, in this series.

Better than Book 1

I enjoyed this book better than book 1, but there is still something missing for me.
In this sequel, Hunter, chief of MoonBound clan has to fulfill the bargain he made in book 1, to marry the daughter of a rival clan. While Hunter wasn't looking forward to mating Rasha, as a leader, he had to create alliances as the human attacks on vampires continue to increase.

Rasha travels to her new clan with her twin sister Aylin as a decoy in case they come across trouble. Aylin is disposable since she has a limp, and she is a second twin who should have been drowned according to clan customs. When the group came under attack, Hunter was able to rescue the princess and they spent some time getting to know each other. Imagine Hunter's shock when he learned that it was actually Aylin, not Rasha that he has been spending time with at the hidden cabin.

The contrast in personalities is vast as Rasha is just awful and Aylin is so sweet. I did find that cliche that the beautiful one was rotten inside and the deformed sister was a gem inside. But it put Hunter in a quagmire--does he do his duty or follow his heart?

The length of time it took to resolve this triangle, coupled with the dangling issues with Mine and the traitor left me unsatisfied.

The world building in this book was much better and more interesting. The origins of the clans, seeing some of the individual's abilities such as Aylin's gift was a good touch to this story. I will continue the series but I wasn't wowed by this one either.

Better than the first book.

I wasn't a big fan of the first book Bound by Night, I thought the series may have potential so I went ahead and purchased this one. Then I found myself passing this book over for others, I had no real desire to see if this book was better than the first. Which is why it took me a while to listen to it. Luckily this book is better than the first, although still not as good as the Demonica/Horseman series. In the last book the biggest factor that bugged me was the characters, I didn't really like them. In this book I liked Hunter and Aylin much better and I was interested in how their future would turn out. I will be giving this series another shot if Larissa Ione writes another, but my hopes are for more books in the Demonica/Horseman series to be written. If you liked the first book then get this book, but if you are not a fan then this book is more of the same. Narrator was okay, but luckily for me not all narrators are a make it or break it deal.

Narrator's Dan make or Break a book.

the story line was good but the narrator sometimes seems to stretch for a certain voice which took away from the reading.

A wonderful second book!

I loved everything about these books. They really did have it all. My only complaint is that all that's left is a novella. How or why does an author relegate her readers to a 3 hour story after two long novels that are 9-10 hours long? It's just a big change. I had to wonder if there were personal reasons or something else that resulted in a shorter book. Either way, I loved this series and I'm planning to read/listen to more from this author for sure.

very good performance and a good read.

It is a good mix between romance, action and variety of emotions, also a great women empowerment. The performance by Amy Landon and audio read was amazing though . The diffrenciation between voices both male and female was very well done.

Amazing

Deferent with most of the stories of vampires, but it had a lot of action very entertaining. The different POV was great and the narrator did an incredible job. I just want to know if Mine, Bastian and some others are going to have their own stories or this is the end of this series. I really like it. Thank you Larissa Ione.

Better to read than to listen

The story is good. I won’t give away spoilers but there are a few massive plot holes that irritate and one has to consciously choose to ignore them to enjoy the story. But overall, it’s a nice little fantasy break.

This narrator, however, just wears on my nerves. I got through the first book feeling a little irritated, but by the end of this one, I could have screamed. Every word done in the female character’s voice is a whine that sounds on the verge of tears. Even scenes that it is 100 percent inappropriate. In fact, most of the book is done in a painfully whiny voice that is like nails on a chalkboard. The male voices aren’t much better. For some reason, when she does a male voice, she doesn’t just lower the tonal range, she slows the voice waaay down so the guy speaks like he is a moron who has forgotten how to speak.

My recommendation is to read not listen.

Vampire Romance

The world the author has created is unique... a different present day, which includes vampires. The romance is spot on with an alpha male, but still sweet and a heroine who you can connect with.

I loved the mix up with the twin vampire sisters. It was funny to read, even if the characters weren’t too amused.

Fantastic!
