Story
Seraph Black has endured a vicious stalker, a change of schools, a bonding, a triple-murder, and more than her fair share of uncomfortable situations - but it seems like the world isn't done with her yet. The messenger is back with a systematic vengeance that knocks her flat, and not even her self-proclaimed secret-keepers are prepared for how far he is willing to go to get what he wants. She is walking on eggshells, trying to keep everyone at a distance. Especially those that are closest to her.

Story
In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods. At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world - a position that she definitely did not earn.

The fate of our people is in my hands, and I know we’re better off if I’m alone. After five years on the run, I’m caught and dragged back to face the men I ran away from. Some people exist in the blessed light of day, but I'm not one of those people. I exist in the bleak grey of a post-twilight world, where the warmth is sucked from the air and the weightless shadows come out to play. I will never be free because I have a demon. It wasn’t always with me, but something happened, something bad. I lost a year of my life, and now here I am, just me and my demon.

Kinda dead. Straight-up psycho. Totally obsessed with her. I did a bad, bad thing. Thanks to a blank in my memory, I'm not sure what that thing was, but it was horrible enough to get me locked up in the mental ward for seven years. Horrible enough that my little sister won't even speak to me. But when I'm released back into a town determined to rub my unknown sins in my face, the past isn't the only thing that's haunting me. The four "imaginary" friends who made my childhood bearable barge into my life in a very real way.

Hi, I'm Alexis Delaney. I'm your average 17-year-old girl. Except I can see the dead. And talk to the dead. And push them away and, well, help them move on. For years I've been struggling to survive the souls still roaming around. The shitheads always seem to find me. Moving from town to town every few months never helped either. More dead just always find me. But things are changing for me now. I'm moving in with my uncle Rory and cousin Tara. I'm finally going to be able to do normal teenage stuff I've been missing out on. Right?

I'm not all that special, really. I'm sure there are a lot of girls with old gypsy blood who see the dead, have killer cults hunting their family, and turn into something that gets scary when they panic. Yep. I'm just an ordinary girl. I wish people would believe that. I've been labeled as one thing or another for most of my life: Death Girl. Crazy Gypsy Girl. Gothic Chick. Monster. It took my mother's death for me to finally start getting answers about what's really been going on. Unfortunately, most of the answers come from men...who aren't just men.

I am wild. I am free. And I will not be tamed. I don’t do relationships. I stick around long enough to have a little fun, and then leave before I can be left. It’s not like anyone has ever held my interest very long anyway. Not until three delectable, mysterious, and frustratingly persistent men show up in my life and completely throw it off course. You'd think that basically being in charge of love would be an epic job, right? Wrong. Sure, I can blow some Lust into people's faces and watch the show, but I can't actually participate. It gets old, trust me. Same goes for love. I can pass it out like sugar-free lollipops at a dentist's office, but I can't get any love for myself. It totally sucks. I used to consider myself a hopeless romantic, so why wouldn't I choose to become a cupid? Sounds like a good idea, right? Wrong again. They don't call us stupid cupids for nothing.

Publisher's Summary
"You see, there is safety in simplicity...in a life of simple peace, where the electricity doesn't dance across the backs of my eyelids, and the sparks don't slither over my consciousness. Only asinine peace, where my paintings don't seem to paint themselves, leaving me with terrible feelings of premonition and a chill beneath my fingernails."
Seraph Black used to think that she was prepared for anything. She could last days without eating and she always walked away from the violent altercations with her father relatively unharmed. She survived working at the club and the drive to school every day in her mother's rust-bucket of a car...but it all changed when Noah and Cabe came bulldozing into her life, careless of the precious secrets they picked apart in their quest to take over her world. She was even less prepared for the mysterious Miro and Silas, and nothing could have prepared her for the bond. The connection. The reason for it all.
Someone wanted her to stay away from her new friends, but she wasn't willing to do that.
Everyone had secrets.
She wanted to know theirs. They wanted to own hers.
And the stalker?
He seemed to know everything already.

Odd
Beautiful artwork for book cover, good steady narration. World building and story pace was good and the characters likable. the story took an odd turn towards the end when our 19 yr old heroine (a baby in my eyes) was revealed to have have a predestined romantic relationship with four men. The focus of the novel was about the forming of the bond the heroine had with her men and finding out more about the supernatural world. there was only kissing between characters-- even liking most elements of this story I doubt I'll get the next novel in this series as I'd probably be uncomfortable with it

I didn't have a problem with anything but the way she read. Why on earth do you have so much breath at the end of your words? Like everything is read so ridiculously dramatic that I can't even pay attention to the book! No, it's fine I'll read it on my own. I wasted money on this.

Poor Narration
This book was not my cup of tea. I didn't care for the characters or the writing. I'll get to the narration in a bit. There were more questions than answers, too many continuity issues and things that didn't make sense. I'm still confused. The heroine was pretty much mindless. She was strong in caring for her brother and paying the bills but the rest of the areas of her life she was weak and spineless. And even though she had these special powers and was supposed to be with these guys, they wouldn't tell her anything and every time she was like, "okay" rather than demanding they tell her what was happening. She has a crazy person after her and the guys were like, let's move away but your brother can't come, "okay". Oh there is something you don't know but we will tell you in a year, "okay". We will be bonded together but we refuse to complete the bond and won't tell you why, "okay". We are going to make all the decisions for you, "okay". Seriously, it was ridiculous. And the fact that the book ends in a cliffhanger, Meh. There was so little actually shared in this book that I don't even care to continue on. It's not like any little tid-bits were provided to hook me and make me need to get more. This book was basically all filler. I'm actually a little annoyed about it seeing how literally nothing was accomplished or explained in 340 pages.
One thing that was extremely strange was the chapter headings. The writing was all pretty juvenile and geared toward a young adult audience, but then the chapters were titled things like:
"Peircing Insecurities of Parting Inferences" and "The Dichotomy of Unwilling Want"
What the actual F!?!
Oh as for the RH aspect, there were a couple quick kisses in this story. That's it. Most of the book was the guys putting off bonding with Seraph.
I don't recommend this book but I really caution you against the audiobook.
Audible: I added the whispersync audible narration to this kindle book. It was a HUGE mistake. I learned my lesson, I will listen to the samples from now on. Don't make the same mistake I did and waste your money. The narration was horrific and choppy. The narrator had an awful cadence that sounded like every line she read was it's own paragraph and every comma was actually a period. It sounded like she was in a weird 5 word monotone rhythm for her reading. Then to top it off, she was super breathy, especially at the end of sentences. The pacing was also really off. She spoke fast normally but then would speed up to super speed and then back to her normal. I think the oddest thing is that I actually felt anxious listening to her speak. Weird.

interesting and compelling.
My Kindle kept telling me to read/listen to this, I kept putting it off bc I thought it would be another teen angst book.
I was shockingly and happily surprised that it was a book with maturity in the characters and a wonderful, vibrant story line.
Even though there wasn't really any thing sexual in the book other than a few kisses and the mention of sex, some of the subject matters really are for older teens/adults.
I'm glad I finally listened after months of Kindle suggesting it lol.

Narration is terrible
I cannot review the story itself, as I have not finished it yet. I will, however, finish it on my Kindle. The narrator's performance of this was one of the worst I've experienced. There was no inflection to her tone, her sentences ended in a breathy "whoopf" that made each sentence sound like a question. I couldn't make it past chapter 2.

Chipmunk speed
The story was potentially interesting, but impossible to listen to at regular speed as it sped up to chipmunk chatter irrationally and repeatedly. Slogged through it at .75, not really worth it that way.

I guess it isn't awful..
Well the narrator was fantastic. I really loved how fluid her voice was. I am also a HUGE menage/ reverse harem junkie. Those kinds of books are my bread and butter.... Sadly thats where the positives end. Seraph is the most unlikeable character I have ever had the displeasure of reading about. I think because she was abused that means shes supposed to be terrified and usless but I can't get behind that when shes supposed to be super powerful. She is a wet blanket and lets these boys walk all ove her. She basically has WELCOME tattooed on her forehead. I wanted to love this book because its my favorite genre but I am having to force myself to even finish it. A couple specific examples - Who just ditches their little sibling? Nope. No way. I dont care what adolescent bull she may be going through you can't make it out that she is this devoted big sister in the beginning of the book risking her safety at a bar just to feed her baby brother and then turn around and completely change her. She just ditches him. First she bails and leaves him with his ABUSIVE father and then she just... moves away? WTF? Also I'm reading a book of constant inner monologue. Is her mouth broken? Does she have a spine? She never says anything important and just believes some rando guys are her savoirs. Its a new millennium! Girls can save themselves and not take orders from a man. I like the little S&M bit where teacher guy says he is gonna punish her but even in BDSM you're allowed to be a person. I dunno. I doubt I can force myself to finish this book. I know I wont be reading the second. I wish authors understood that you can have a submissive main character without her being a silent mouse with no personality. If you are looking for a menage romance or reverse harem just google a list and you'll find some great ones on Audible.

Not sure
As others have said, it's a bit of a slow start. I think I'll have to listen to it again just make sense of all the characters. I think the narrator makes it a hard book to understand. She tends to rush words and end each sentence on an outward breath, hence making the words hard to hear. I found this really distracting. She does the different voices well enough however. There's Zero steamy scenes but maybe later on in the series? I'll continue reading as the story line has got my attention. There is also an issue with sentences being repeated which is an audio fault I think.

ehhh nahh
This story was meant to intrigue me, but the large amount of secrets eventually just annoyed me and made the story hard to follow. The complicated love pentagon surprisingly didnt bother me, but with all the secrets involved got pretty confusing. The moment the "love at first sight"/ "soulmates" concept was introduced, I have to admit I rolled my eyes. The reader was a little quick and the tone of her voice kept rising at the end of every sentence, but once i got used to it an it was fine.

Excellent story line. Loved the whole adventure. The narrator does a wonderful job, she is the reason I bought this book.

Great book
Very very very slow start but wait for it. Well worth it. This book opens up like a flower and with it the characters grow. Fantastic
