Publisher's Summary

Charles is a guy that likes to play the field. He is highly sought after in the Mansion, both for his prowess, and his position. He is content to stay the playboy for life, too, steeped in the culture in which he was raised.

That is, until he finds himself on a mission with Ann, trying to figure out why shifters are mysteriously going missing. Suddenly things that were so clear cut, get muddled.

When Ann succumbs to the danger that is plaguing her kind, all bets are off.

Love Charles!!!

I love this series, Charles and Ann are so cute. Victoria Mei does a great job on the narration. I definitely recommend this series, but start from the beginning.

Charles keeps you hot and on the edge of your seat

I loved Charles and Ann’s story from the moment I read their characters and saw their chemistry in the previous books. Charles is an interesting guy; he’s lethal, cracks jokes constantly, is sleeping his way through the mansion in record time, takes nothing seriously and…get this…he knits!!!

Ann is hardcore, a fighter with a big heart, open to change, accepting of others (unlike most of the shifters), and can take it as well as she can dish it out. Ann and Charles have always had great banter, lots of sexual innuendo (mostly from Charles) and Ann is constantly acting as if she would not get with him even if he was the last man on earth.

I wasn’t sure how Charles, being the big child he is, could have a fulfilling love story but as with everything in his life he approached it with sex jokes, honesty and his whole heart. Charles has always had a big heart but he also has never wanted the twisted, boring, committed lifestyle that humans & shifters seem to want, but he’s also always been upfront about it so when Ann gets the stupid idea to have a one-night stand with him you know it’s going to start some major fireworks!

What is unexpected is that path it leads to and how quickly things escalate. Their story begins fast and furious. It keeps you hot and on the edge of your seat.

Great listen

I really enjoyed the storyline and plot. The characters were intriguing, sassy, smexy, and funny. The storyline was engaging and well written with toe curling sensual scenes, drama, mystery, and confrontation. Charles and Ann have supplied the readers with many laughs throughout the series and this book has their unique humour in abundance. I really like this series and highly recommend it!

Ok, needed different narrator

For a short story from this writer in this genre, it was ok. It did cover a lot for relatively short one and storyline held my interest. Relationship development happened super quick, but expected with such short length, and think helped by background story.I just think it would have been improved considerably with the addition of male narrator for Charles' POV atthe very least, or if not two narrators then have a male read the whole thing - one good with female voices. I found the males voices in this quite stupid sounding and not suiting there characters, though differentiated well. Some female narrators can do (adult) mens voices well, this was not one. Made worse with significant parts being from Charles' POV.
