Publisher's Summary

Everyone has a secret they'd like to keep buried, and Chase has more than one. His past is about to blow wide open as the nightmare he'd tried once before to lock away comes back to horrifying life.

With enough painful memories to last her a lifetime, Vanessa vows to keep moving forward instead of looking back in regret. But when she gets caught up in Chase's struggles, they become as much her own problems as his.

To secure the present, they both need to deal with their pasts...before they no longer have a future for any of it to matter.

Enjoyable story, bland narration

I really like the SoH books and I'm working my way through them all. Chase and Vanessa's story isn't the best in the series, but it's still enjoyable. As with all these stories, it's a quick, undemanding listen with plenty of action and one (not very graphic) sex scene.

Unfortunately, DH narrates without feeling, rendering dramatic events and emotional declarations flat and rather dull. This is the 2nd in this series he's narrated and, if there are any more, I'll probably stick to the kindle edition in future.
