Publisher's Summary

Audiobook four of the Ciaphas Cain series.

Listen to it because:

It's a tale of Cain alone (well, except for Jurgen, but he hardly counts), surrounded by enemies and desperate for a good cup of tanna tea....

The story:

Once again, reluctant hero Commissar Cain is catapulted into glory in the fourth instalment of this tremendously popular series. Escaping from a disastrous space battle, the commissar and his malodorous sidekick Jurgen crash-land behind enemy lines. Even the sly Cain can't avoid a straight fight this time, as the only way out is to round up what few troops they can find and fight their way back to safety. Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of barbaric alien orks stand in their way.

Another stellar performance

this series is so grand, a thrill ride of adventure and full of Cains sardonic humor. 10/10
I can't wait till the next audio book in the series.

Felicia!!!

This book is fantastic fun. Im glad to finally reach Cains first meeting with Felicia who shows up in other adventures. The first battle for Perlia being such a turning point in Cains career makes this a must read.

I like it

It's pulp, but the voice acting nails the tone and brings the characters to life.

Cain and Jurgen are in love.

Cain sounds a lot of time with Jurgen in this one, and our smelly boy gets to show off his anti ork fighting knowledge. Very fun.

Excellent Ciaphas Cain novel

Love this series. It has the right amount of action, humor, and hilarious fatalism that Cain brings to the table.

I's one half of what makes a Ciaphas Cain story

I enjoyed the book, its snappy, fun, righterous purging of the enemies of His Divine Majesty is to be had, but a Cain archive novel Without the 597th and Amberly is like a grox burger without fries and amasec. It feeds you enough to go on doing Emperor's work. But Its missing something important.

Great

The book itself and the narration is great but it hasn’t been grouped properly with the other books in the series- all the others have Series: Ciaphas Cain: Warhammer 40,000.

Easy read and funny

The Ciaphas Cain books are excellent. They are easy to read, funny and puts the grime dark of the 40K universe in to a more human format of people just getting on with making the best of it.

Another great Cain audio book 'nuff said

I love these series of books by Sandy Mitchell, painting a more realistic approach to the grim and dark universe of 40k. A light dusting of humour to keep it entertaining. Regarding the audio book, masterfully read, with each character being brought to life by the different narrators.

A must read for any 40k of sci-fi lovers out there. keep them coming

you just can't hate Cain...

God every Cain story I listen to just has me glued to my seat, giggling away at his antics.... if GW is looking for ideas for a Warhammer+ show I would suggest a Cain inspired live action/cartoon..... possibly my favourite Cain story to date will definitely listen again.

Favourite Cain Story with a Great Cast

This is my favourite Cain story, the cast is great and provide a good and welcome variety - not quite a full audio drama, but still better than a single narrator in bringing the story and characters to life.

Cain out of his element

Not as good as For the Emperor or Traitors Hand, better than Caves of Ice.
