Publisher's Summary

Paula Brackston's City of Time and Magic is the next installment in the time-traveling Found Things Series.

City of Time and Magic sees Xanthe face her greatest challenges yet. She must choose from three treasures that sing to her; a beautiful writing slope, a mourning brooch of heartbreaking detail, and a gorgeous gem-set hat pin. All call her, but the wrong one could take her on a mission other than that which she must address first, and the stakes could not be higher. While her earlier mission to Regency England had been a success, the journey home resulted in Liam being taken from her, spirited away to another time and place. Xanthe must follow the treasure that will take her to him if he is not to be lost forever.

Xanthe is certain that Mistress Flyte has Liam and determined to find them both. But when she discovers Lydia Flyte has been tracking the actions of the Visionary Society, a group of ruthless and unscrupulous Spinners who have been selling their talents to a club of wealthy clients, Xanthe realizes her work as a Spinner must come before her personal wishes. The Visionary Society is highly dangerous and directly opposed to the creed of the Spinners. Their actions could have disastrous consequences as they alter the authentic order of things and change the future. Xanthe knows she must take on the Society. It will require the skills of all her friends, old and new, to attempt such a thing, and not all of them will survive the confrontation that follows.

Paula Brackston does it again!

As a longtime reader of Paula Brackston’ books, I’m once again taken away to another time and place with characters I’m interested in and love. Xanthe and Liam continue their separate journeys through time in the hopes of reuniting, as each work through their own interactions to get their. I’m drawn into Xanthe’ world again and love it!

Beautiful wrap up to an amazing series.

I’ve waited all year for this book to come out and it was everything I hoped it would be! A beautiful conclusion to the last few books of found things. Although I’m also hoping maybe she’ll write one more?? Love this series. If you haven’t listen or read them I highly recommend!

This book was worth the wait. The story was fabulous and had me hooked from moment one. The performance was phenomenal. I have read two series by Paula and it was interesting to see them overlap in this story. Buy it!

My favorite of the series!

I love this series! And this particular book, #4, is the best yet. I love where the author is taking the story. There is magic, time travel, Scots, witches, secret societies, history. What more could you ask for??

Xanthe is definitely a favorite!

“City of Time and Magic” lives up to its name and the reputation of these novels. Marisa Calin is a wonderful narrator for this series, and I hope she will continue to narrate future installments.
Xanthe is definitely one of my favorite characters for her bravery, resilience and loyalty to her family, her friends and her duty as a spinner. This book seals the deal for future stories with Xanthe and her helpers (can’t name names without spoiling), although now she has even more to deal with.
I highly recommend this series, but definitely start from book 1. I look forward with impatience to the next Xanthe adventure!

Ms Brackston tells a good story. That's a fact. I can't wait for the next installment in Xanthe's continuing adventures.

Once again Paula Brackston did it!

If you follow the adventures through time of Xanthe then you won't be disappointed. Paula still manages to surprise us with some twists in the story line. You finish the book sad that you will have one year to wait for more adventure. But then I always look forward to re-reading the series before the new book come out.

Great story, good narration.

I have very much enjoyed this series of books and hope that there will be many more to come. I find the narration has been very good. Occasionally the narrator shouts more than is necessary but on the whole a good performance and easy listening.

Enjoyable reading. A nice book to read at bedtime.

Looking forward to another in the same series. I have tried a couple of Paula's witches books, but not so easy to follow as The Found Things series. Thank you for them.

Fantastic

Well my goodness she’s done it again.

I loved this book, I won’t give anything away as I don’t want to spoil it, but it held me, the characters, the relationships with them all, the storyline - wow and when the book finished I felt I had lost a long lost friend again. Now there is a mourning period and a search for another book that will hold me again.

I do hope Ms Brackston is working on the next book, I will miss those characters for sure

Until next time …..

Another captivating installment of Xanthe's advent

I got hooked after the first few chapters of book 1. I have been impatiently waiting for this book to be released since I discovered the series in January this year.
I love that you also get to interact with characters from another of Paula's series (The Return of the Witch - book 2)
After getting home back into this series and finishing this book, I think I might just go back and start it all over again to rediscover the magic.
