Rhys

I’m an addict.

I’ve been abused, and I’ve been the abuser.

My entire life has been a blur, filled with misery and anguish.

I’m trying my best to stay clean and lucid even when my world feels dark.

Now, I have to stay away from the woman who makes everything murky and complicated.

Blair

I’ve always been a toy for others to use.

A spoiled, broken girl who’s never been seen because no one ever tried.

He sees me though. Holding up a mirror and showing me exactly who I am with absolute clarity.

Rhys is a product of a foster care system that failed him. He has been through so much and he's very damaged, yet he manages to find love, family and a purpose in life.

Loved it

This was a really good book with a good plot. It was different in a good way. The scorch meter was hot and with the troubled broody Heroine and the woman who taught him how to love. It has a lot of heavy trigger flash backs that readers need to be warned about. I absolutely loved the book. The narrators Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are awesome as usual!

Can you save them all?

My heart broke for everyone in this story! Growing up in the foster system and facing abuse, how do you get past it and learn to truly love? Can you open yourself up to try to save at least one? And how do you walk away from all the others? So much love to give without even realizing it. Loved everything about this story!

Wonderful!

Nicole has written a powerful touching story! My heart go out to all of the kids that are in foster care that are being abused. Everyone needs to hear the story of the lucky ones and the not so lucky ones.
Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are masters narrating. They have great chemistry between them and it shows in their voices. Don’t miss this one!

Clarity

Clarity is a book about Rhys and Blaire. We meet both characters in Redemption. Rhys grew up in the foster system, and had a really rough upbringing. He is a man of few words, and doesn't like physical touch. Blaire has come from wealth, but acts out trying to get her father to notice her.

They have hooked up a few times, but it's always on Rhys terms. They both ended up moving to a new city, but Blaire wants nothing to do with Rhys. Something happens, and Rhys goes to Blaire for help. They end up in a fake relationship and living together. Rhys still has emotional baggage from the past, but Blaire is there to try to make him come out of it.

When something happens and Rhys has a breakdown, can Blaire be there to keep him away from the alcohol? I loved this story, and it really pulled on my heartstrings. Rhys had such a rough past, and to see that Blaire was there to help him work through it really brought out the feelings. He will do whatever he can to change a life of another, so they don't have to go through what he did.

I really liked getting to know these characters, and the narrators really brought the book to life!

Beautiful and raw, Emotional & real.

This story was so heartbreakingly beautiful. Although this story is not filled with sunshine and rainbows, it is beautiful, raw, and real. It absolutely ripped my heart in two and I admit was difficult to read as it was so emotional and made my heart ache.

My heart just broke for Rhys. He’s a recovering addict with a tortured soul. He experienced a really dark and horrible childhood and feels unworthy of love. I just loved Blair and her sassy, strong personality. She didn't take any crap from anyone, but was also so patient and understanding with our boy Rhys. She was perfect for him, it just took him a bit to realize it.

This book has all the things I love in a well-written page-turner of a romance. Enemies to Lovers, Tortured Hero, Fake Relationship, Dual POV, sexy times, and a super-duper awesome surprise plot that just made this story come together so perfectly. This is truly a special story about healing the past with love, trust, patience and understanding.

It was beautifully narrated by Wen Ross & Kai Kennicott! They really brought the emotion and drama to life!

Beautifully Heartbreaking

Oh My Heart!! Nicole does it again! This book was so beautifully heartbreaking, it shattered me at every turn. It was dark and gritty. It was not what I was expecting, but it still pulled me in and I fell in love with the characters and story. Nicole is a great writer and knows how to develop amazing characters you can’t help but fall for. Rhys has been dealt a bad hand at life, he is trying to survive and just going through the motions. When Bree runs into his life, his past demons come back to haunt him and now will have to face them head on in order to save Bree from the same fate. Blair is strong, sassy, and full of love to give. She too did not have a great childhood, but it was nothing compared to Rhys’. All she wants is to find someone to love and who loves her back. Rhys and Blair are two broken people who find the courage and love to put the pieces back together. They see each other through the facade. Their connection and chemistry was intense. You knew from the beginning they were meant to be. This was a beautiful story about two lost souls finding redemption, love and a family they always knew they wanted but thought they could never have. This story took you on an emotional journey full of angst, heartache, and pain, sprinkled with few sweet moments throughout. Rhys’ backstory was so painful to read/listen to, but Wen Ross did an amazing job bringing Rhys to life. I absolutely loved the narration. The narrators were perfect for Rhys and Blair and made them real!

Clarity

OMG! I was not expecting that! This book has so much depth and raw emotions twisted in. I loved it. Reece is damaged and Blair was the only one to look past it. There story was rocky from the very beginning. This is going to be moved to my top ten books! Wen really captured the true essence of Reese's character. Kai did an amazing job also!

Broken hero with an amazing story

Rhys and Blair's story is one that I truly enjoyed, it has a balanced amount of angst and the characters are very well built. A broken hero is my cup of tea and I really liked the way the story was planned and written. I got the audiobook and the narrations by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross were spot on, definitely consider getting the audio totally worth it, it was a good edition and the dual POV was perfect.

A fake relationship with a whole lot of heart

I listened to Clarity in Audiobook format with Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross narrating and they were the perfect choice to bring Rhys and Blair to life. I will admit I had reservations to begin with, it took me maybe 5 or 6 chapters to get into the story after feeling like I was missing some back story to these characters (which apparently comes from Redemption). Clarity is the story of their relationship together rather than secondary characters, once I grasped that I was much happier. Wen Ross's performance as Blair again took me a little while to settle with, why you ask? she has a lower/masculine tone to her voice and Blair visually looks like a Barbie so my imagination wasn't gelling with what I was hearing. However the more I got to know Blair as a character, Wen truly was the perfect casting choice! She nails her brazen, confident attitude and doesn't take any of the shade Rhys throws her way and he throws a lot at her!

The story turned out to be something I didn't expect and not something I have really come across before. A fake relationship covering some real chemistry, one scared young girl thrown into their lives by chance and a way to gain clarity and heal for both Rhys and Blair transpires. I really loved the strength Nicole gave Blair as the lead female in the story. She was tenacious, determined, understanding and still held a softness when it was needed. She is a woman that owns her confidence and sexuality without shame yet doesn't throw it people's faces, she was really easy to admire. Rhys was a character I didn't really know what to expect from, what I got was a man so hurt he doesn't know how to recover from the scars he hides. He is a man filled with so much love but he doesn't know how to show that to others.

Clarity is a novel that pulls on your heartstrings, it is so much more than just a romance story and I admired the multiple layers Nicole added and each were so well developed and thought out. You can tell a lot of care went into making sure this story was right and Nicole most definitely pulled it off.

It's very clear!

If you are looking for a story to capture your interest and keep you riveted as you read, you need to grab a book by Nicole Dykes. Rhys is broken. A man who as a result from the flawed foster care system found his way into self medication. His destructive ways finally came to a head, and now he is clean. But he still has much to overcome. When he is comes across Blair, he is attracted, but can't do anything about it. Not willing to take no for an answer, she begins to break down barriers. Now faced with the chance to change another person's life, the two join together, not only to help, but because of their ever growing feelings. But will it be enough? Dykes writes a compelling story of addiction, abuse and redemption that captivated my listening time. I was intrigued with Rhys and Blair. Each flawed, they worked together to find their normal. Not easy, not glossed over, Dykes keeps the grittiness real. My heart hurt in parts and was filled with love in others. It's the perfect mix and she leaves us wide open for the next one! I can't wait to see what will occur!

Narrated by one of my favorite teams, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross brings this incredible story to life. It's very emotionally driven, and these two nail it. Kennicott comes in as Blair, and she is strong willed and determined. As Rhys, Ross brings in his brokenness and lets us feel his pain. The chemistry of this team shines through and makes the characters that much more realistic. It's a fantastic listen.

A tough but touching listen

This book hit me really hard. It's a subject matter I can't often handle but I was lucky enough that not only had I read a book similar by this author before, but they handles the subject matter in a sensitive enough way I can deal. Not that they gloss over anything because they don't but it's not gratuitous. I just wanted to protect Rhys. I did. and Blair...she was pretty perfect for him. Not innocent by any means and certainly strong enough to take Rhys and his issues head on. I want Bree's story though. I do. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Absolutely addictive!

Firstly, can I just say that both Kai and Wen did an AMAZING job. I swear I had shivers run down my spine when I first heard Rhys. The performance given by these two were amazing and they really brought out the emotions and passion in this story. Now onto the story, of course, it's Nicole Dykes so trust her to make you cry and swoon all in one audiobook. Rhys and Blair were amazing and nothing about their love came easy. Rhys was tough on the outside but he was broken on the inside, his past was cruel and my heart hurt for this beautiful man.

Blair was an AMAZING, badass heroine and she loved Rhys despite his flaws. She was strong, sassy, witty and beautiful - her character had so much of depth and she was patient and showed Rhys that love was worth it.

Clarity is a story that starts with heartbreak and ends in something sadly beautiful. My heart was ripped up so many times but it was pieced back together by the end. Simply wonderful! I am so excited to read more of Nicole's works.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Intense!

Wow, this book is a mind blow it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride and has you loving every minute of it. Nicole Dykes is a gifted author, the creates complex stories that sucks you in to their depth holding your attention hostage the entire time. Her storylines and characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. This is no happy go lucky story, the characters are flawed and broken and you can not help but to feel for them and root for them to succeed. I adored the two lead characters Rhys and Blair, while each have their own issues Rhys is more of a lost soul, he keeps every in the world at arms length. His story is heartbreaking and the more you learn of it and what he endured the more you understand him and his drive. I admired Blair for her willingness to stick around, give him the space he needed and for supporting his cause with out even knowing why and what drove him. I guess in a way she knew but not exact details, she was patient with him and let him tell her in his own time. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is well plotted with plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt and emotional moments and a romance like no other. This book comes with a note stating it contains sensitive subjects, I must say the author keeps it all real and does a great job covering the topics. Shout out to some of the secondary characters who play a big part in Rhys and Blair’s story. Nicole Dykes, thank you for another awesome story & emotional rollercoaster ride, thanks for keeping it all real and for bringing light to some real issues and the damage it can cause.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did an awesome job portraying the characters, humanizing them while giving each their own voice. They grasped each character’s persona, took the role and made it their own. Kai played Blair’s role with perfection, captured strength, vulnerability as well as her passionate heart. Wen Ross played Rhys with perfection, intense, dark and troubled. The secondary characters were all well done too. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured all the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen
