Publisher's Summary
Fearless adventurer Dirk Pitt must unravel a historical mystery of epic importance in the latest novel in the beloved New York Times best-selling series created by the “grand master of adventure” Clive Cussler.
In 1959 Tibet, a Buddhist artifact of immense importance was seemingly lost to history in the turmoil of the Communist takeover. But when National Underwater and Marine Agency Director Dirk Pitt discovers a forgotten plane crash in the Philippine Sea over 60 years later, new clues emerge to its hidden existence.
But Pitt and his compatriot Al Giordino have larger worries when they are ordered to recover a failed hypersonic missile from Luzon Strait. Only someone else is after it, too...a rogue Chinese military team that makes their own earthshattering discovery, hijacking a ship capable of stirring the waters of the deep into a veritable Devil’s Sea.
From the cold dark depths of the Pacific Ocean to the dizzying heights of the Himalaya Mountains, only Dirk Pitt and his children, Summer and Dirk Jr., can unravel the mysteries that will preserve a religion, save a nation...and save the world from war.

Dirk Cussler doesn't disappoint
i was afraid that after Clive Cussler died, there would be no more books with Dirk Pitt, but Dirk Cussler has taken over and is following in the spirit of Clive
This book is excellent and it is also extremely relevant due to the current Chinese Regime's expansive politics.

The best Cussler in an extremely long time
I have read every volume of Clive Cussler's Series so I believe I am qualified to say that this was one of if not the most exciting in all the series. It was non-stop entertainment and thrilling adventures at every chapter turn. Just when you thought his novels were becoming almost formulary, they come up with a story that covers all the areas you can hope for in this area of writings.

Just like Clive Cussler!
I was a little apprehensive about this one being that Clive was no longer at the helm but Dirk was brilliant. Thrilling plot that clearly took lots of research and delivered and realistic adventure worthy of Dirk Pitt's name.
Can't wait for the next book!

I actually like that most of what was happening was in one place per se. Yes the action moved but it was easy to get deeper into the plot without shifting to so many new places. Maybe it's just my brain.

Another great dirt pit adventure
I was hoping it after we lost Clive Cussler last year that his son Dirk Cussler and his other co-writers would continue Clive Cussler‘s Siri‘s going forward. While we never know how they’re going to turn out until they are written and read. I am happy to say that Dirk Cussler is carrying on in his father‘s footsteps. This book was a classic dirt pit adventure and we even had one of my favorite things happen in a lot of Clive Cussler books. We had a small side character based on Clive with one of his dogs in a short scene in the book. I always got a kick out of hearing had a character based on Clive. Looking forward to many more of the Clive Cussler series going on with his car riders and his son. Check it out

I enjoyed this great adventure over a long 4-day weekend. Dirk magnificently ties current global threats to historic struggles for power and control. The advanced technologies, classic cars and planes, underwater exploration, modern engineering, exotic sea vessels and ships transport your imagination through every thrilling moment. I look forward to my next escape with Dirk, Al, Dirk Jr. and Summer.

good enjoyable story
I'm a long time reader/listener to the Dirk Pitt franchise. the stories have kept me entertained more so than riveted and really into the story line lately. This story falls into that category. Narration was "over" narrated. Such as "over acting" is to acting. I think I would have enjoyed it more with a different story teller. I think I'm being generous with 4 stars.
