What does a retired vampire hunter do with the rest of her life?

That’s a question Bess Walker-James is desperately trying to figure out. Having recently been made redundant, she holes up at her family home in Maine to do some serious thinking about what comes next.

Unfortunately, she has no idea. Until her handsome next-door neighbor shows up.

Turns out, Callum McCarthy needs more help than just finding his missing cat. Bess decides to assist him. What else has she got to do? But little does she know, he’s a lot more than he seems.

Of course, so is she....

LOVED IT!!!

I hope this is the start of a new series. Love the characters and all the possibilities for future adventures. Needless to say, BJ Harrison's Irish accent is choco!ate for the ears.

Enjoyable

Short tale but entertaining enough. It’s a bit short for character development or complex plotting. It might be nice to have a full length story with this protagonist.

I hope this is the start to a new series

Kristen Painter has done it again. As always, the characters were well devolved and the storyline was as believable as possible considering its paranormal genre. B. J. Harrison, as always gave a great performance as he brought the story together giving each character their own distinct voice.
I hope this is the start to a new series.
I highly recommend this book/audiobook to paranormal fiction fans.

Disappointing and Predictable

I was looking forward to listening to this story because I have enjoyed the other PWF books written by this author. Unfortunately, the mystery of the story is extremely predictable. The main character's life situation could have been exciting to write about, but this story doesn't make the cut. Will not be purchasing any of the other books if this is first in a series.

Fun Adventure

This was a fun little adventure to listen to! We got to go on a mystery ride with our two main characters and Murphy the cat. It was an easy, short, and sweet listen with very light romance. I am not sure if this is a standalone or if we will get more similar short stories next! Looking forward to any of it, as anything by Kristen Painter with B.J. Harrison narrating is bound to be awesome and fun!

Code Name: Mockingbird

Code Name: Mockingbird by Kristen Painter
Short paranormal romance mystery.
A put-out-to-pasture vampire Hunter becomes a detective and protector for her new neighbor, a vampire.

Cute, clean, intriguing. Add in a cat that seems to be a little bit more and you get an entertaining paranormal escape for a couple of hours.

🎧 I listened to the audiobook version narrated by B.J. Harrison who most most of this authors books. The performance is wonderful with clear differences in characters and expressions of emotion. He does speak much slower than a Midwest conversation would happen so I listened to this at a speed of 1.5.
