Publisher's Summary

If you want to know how you can overcome your nature of codependency, then keep reading...

More often than not, people face difficulty in maintaining healthy relationships. They are either too clingy or go into a complete emotional shutdown. They do not find proper connections with others whom they can trust or feel safe in.

Sometimes, you might think that you have found the one and develop a connection with that person, but can you differentiate between dependency and love? If you have the same question in your mind, then this audiobook is the perfect choice for you because it will answer your question with proper explanations.

In the case of codependents, their affection and love come from a place of fear of abandonment or rejection, and this is mostly because they had faced a neglectful childhood. They face endless, complex situations in their relationships, but even though they have the intention to form real human connections, their insecure self gets the better of them.

Are you suffering from a similar situation? Do you think you are troubled by resentment, internalized shame, and guilt?

All of these can be quite difficult feelings to handle on your own, and this book has mentioned a step-by-step approach to recover from the state of codependency.

If you do not take the right steps toward recovery, you might simply be running in a race where you don’t know where to go. Everything in a relationship boils down to one single word, and that is "communication". But healthy and assertive communication is something every codependent struggles with.

They are so badly shamed for expressing themselves in their past that now they have forgotten how to look into their inner selves. They fear that whenever they try to communicate, there will be some conflict, and they will lose the person. There are others who manipulate people in their lives to get what they want.

This is a good start to acknowledgement

A must listen for anyone who has grown up or lived with addiction. It has helped me start to understand how I have learned and started some of my most unhealthy patterns.Useful book for learning to stop controlling others. Instead, control your self.

How did this time traveler visit my childhood?

This was the question I found myself asking as I found myself both bewildered and astounded at the shocking accuracy in which they described my upbringing, early relationships, and later professional career. Was the narrator an ancestor spirit, sent from beyond to warn me of me perilous path? I plan to explore this theory and the self-care solutions proposed in the book with my therapist in my next session. 😅 Ignore the cover (and my silly synopsis) and get the book if you need support shutting up your inner critic. This was a tough but necessary read!

annoying reader, good information, to simplified

if you can get through the very annoying childlike voice of the reader there is some really good information in the beginning of this book. It's very simplified for a very complicated subject kind of just codependency light

A book to read more than once:

The information and tools to become "codependent no more", is excellent. The narration into each chapter is sensible and cohesive. I enjoyed the audible very much except the narrator. Her voice is very child like and it's sometimes hard concentrating on the complexity of the subject when it sounds like the advise is coming from a child. That is the only negative thing I can comment on. The material in the book is very well written.

Something is Missing

Can't put my finger on it but this book is lacking a crucial component to overcoming codependency or even understanding it more. I think I would get more from it in book form and not audio.

Awesome content..almost robotic reading style

Enjoyed the content of the book. the reader though sounded robotic. If she sounded more real and authentic, I feel it would be more personable

It is a great and enjoyable listen.

This audiobook is straightforward and clearly explained. I found it to be very helpful in identifying traits of codependency and in giving solid ways to make changes.
