When 13-year-old Lily's inventor father vanishes on a routine Zeppelin flight, Lily's determined to find out the truth behind his disappearance. But she's not the only one searching for her father; there are silver-eyed men in the shadows who will stop at nothing to find him.

Off-putting narration.

Couldn't finish listening to this because of the one note narration where every line was read in the same sad, sad voice. The narrator didn't seem to be capable of any other emotion and also had a habit of stressing the wrong words in sentences. It was so off-putting I had to instead buy this in kindle format. There are plenty of amazing actors out there. Audible really needs to do better than this.

Awful performance

I have no idea if this is a good story or not because the performance was so bad that I couldn't make it more than three minutes in. The reader is putting emphasis in weird places and sounds either over-dramatic or incredibly boring. What a shame.

Interesting book. Poor narration

Would you recommend Cogheart to your friends? Why or why not?

Not based on the audiobook.

How could the performance have been better?

The narration is the worst I've heard. The narrator speaks so slowly and almost sounds like a text-to-voice robot. I'll buy the print book as I got to Chapter 17 before I couldn't continue. It really is slow and mind-numbingly boring.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

No

great book, terrible reading

I was excited about this book but as soon as I started to listen to it I was completely put off by the way it was read. Odd voice and weird rhythm to sentences. I had to give up and buy a copy of the book. I really enjoyed the book though. Such a shame the audio version is so odd!

Dreadful reading.

I bought this book so my daughter and I could listen together as she is reading the book at the moment.
Sadly the narration is so disappointing, the voice is reminiscent of the narration given for the blind over films and tv. The intonations and stress within sentences is completely skewed and off putting. The voice is monotone and dull.
What is a wonderful children’s story has been lost in this extremely unanimated reading.

Awful narrator.

Couldn’t stand the narrator. Shame as apparently the story is great. Returned and got my credit back.

Brilliant - Give the Narrator a Second Chance

Lots of reviews complained about the narration, however we had listened to her read A Place Called Perfect (also brilliant). Her voice does take a bit of getting used to but it is perfect for the mystery and drama of the book. It's also a good pitch for before bedtime, though the story was so good we listened to it whenever we could!

The story is brilliant - heartwarming, sad and clever. Give it a go - you won't regret it. Good for children from 8-12yrs.

Terrible narration

What on earth is wrong with this woman.. it’s too painful to listen to! Listening on 1.25 speed makes it a little better but her voice still rises and falls in the wrong places. Such a shame. Just can’t listen any more.

Terribly Miscast Narrator

Should have been read with more gravitas. A good story, but very difficult to access because the narrator adopted the wrong tone. A good voice for getting her newborn off to sleep... Not for inspiring young readers.. A swing and a miss.

Reader not suited to story

Great story - full of vim and vigour but the reader doesn’t match it! Wrong reader for this book. Sorry!
