Publisher's Summary

This was supposed to be her happily ever after....

It's a familiar tale: A kind and beautiful young girl, reeling from loss. A doting father, frantic to bring a mother's love back into his daughter's life. And the selfish, cruel woman who insinuates herself into that family - a woman so unfeeling, so cold hearted, that when her new husband dies, she makes the girl a servant in her own home. But who is that evil stepmother, that icy lady of the house? How did she become so closed off that, in the face of a child's grief, she thought only to seek wealth and power for herself and her abhorrent daughters?

Before that fateful ball, before the glass slipper and the prince, there was another story - a story of love and grief, of hope and of dreams dashed. It is the story of Lady Tremaine. Even the coldest of villains are sometimes wives and mothers, women who loved and lost and hoped for something grander for their lives...once upon a dream. The latest novel in Serena Valentino's deliciously devious Villains series introduces the most famed and hated wicked stepmother of them all - but turns everything you know about her on its head.

Kinda bummed.

I don’t want to spoil the story. Just kind of bummed at the ending. I still feel Lady Tremaine was cheated.

Mediocre

It’s not my favorite in the series. I will say this narrator’s voice is much better than the that if the first few books as it’s less screechy. I did like the hints at the Hook book though. Doubt I’ll listen again.

Great book

Loved the book. A lot of twist and turns in the book. I just wish the ending was different but glad it was truly a happily ever after ending.

Disney love

I was unsure about how the story would unfold but the way it did was epic. I liked how the story line progressed and getting to know the back story of Lady Tremaine. The reasons she was so cold connected to the movie and for my son made it seem like it was meant to go with the movie.

Cold Hearted?

I’ve heard many story’s of Cinderella I don’t really like this one. It doesn’t make sense. They make it out like Sir Richard is a bad guy. All story’s of Cinderella, Lady Tremaine was spoiled and so were daughters.

That ending though

HUGE SPOILERS

So let me see if I got this straight. This poor woman was tricked into marriage by a gold digger who then took all her money and tormented her and her daughters. This all happened with the help of the weird sisters. She then has the choice of killing her abuser or continuing to suffer. Lady Tremaine then gets rid of Cinderella's father and gets her money back. She then becomes the eeeeevil one making poor Cinderella take her place as servant of the house.

At this point the fairy godmother steps in, saves Cinderella, and TRAPS this woman and her daughters in the house. Then everyone forgets about these 3 women for years and continue with their lives. Years later, the fairies feel bad about Drusilla and Anastasia and go back to save them. In the meantime, Lady Tremaine has gone crazy from the curses, abuse, torture, and everything else. So, the fairies swoop in and rescue the young ladies. And what is the magical solution the fairies have for Lady Tremaine? They turn her into stone. Really? That is your solution for someone who has gone crazy after such a wretched life?

Do better.

Amazing

I absolutely love all of these books! This series is the best. It allows you to understand how all these characters became what we know as “Villains”. I need more. Never Never here I come.

Another good book

I'd say over all it's bitter sweet cuz the end kind felt unjust to me. After hearing how she was made to be this way basically used, lied to and abandoned, and driven to insanity. Kinda seems unfair for how it all ended.
