A dead man walks into a police station. He tells a tale - bizarre as it is grotesque - of kidnap and organ harvesting. John Baden's story of being held prisoner for 12 years sounds far-fetched - but it's all about to get much, much stranger. DI Ben Westphall has been given the case because of his background in MI6. He also has a knack for getting inside people's heads and seeing things others would miss. Westphall is no ordinary detective, and this is no ordinary case.

Publisher's Summary
She left him for dead. Now, he’s back to repay the favor.
DCI Jack Logan should’ve known things were going too well. Genuinely happy for the first time in years, Jack has almost fooled himself into believing that the world is a decent place.
But when the discovery of a mutilated body kicks off a series of grisly murders, Jack’s dream of a peaceful life rapidly begins to crumble around him.
With friends in danger and enemies begging for his help, Jack must risk everything to protect the final would-be victim and stop the most monstrous killer he’s ever faced.
And to do that, sacrifices will have to be made....
Colder than the Grave is the 12th novel in the number one best-selling DCI Jack Logan series set in the Highlands of Scotland. Perfect for fans of Stuart Macbride, Chris Brookmyre, Ian Rankin, and LJ Ross.

Excellent finish to the series!!
This was one of the best books in the series. Loads of humor and a fast-paced story. While I’m said to see the end of the DCI Jack Logan series, I’m excited to start the Bob Hoon series. Bob is one of the funniest characters in this series. Bravo to Angus King, my favorite narrator of all times. The way he does the voices in this series is hilarious, giving each character a distinct personality.

Filler content waters down the drama
This would have been a very gripping story if not for the author's bad habit of including too much content that had nothing to do with the story. These sections have the effect of removing drama from the story and slamming taking the edge off the story. This book wasn't as bad in this way as some of the previous books, but I wish JD Kirk would stop this bad habit.

Highly recommended murder mystery police procedural
Although this fictional novel is a murder mystery police procedural, the characters were funny and the author created a light joking feel between them. Also the characters were very memorable and well fleshed out. I enjoyed it very much. Will be looking for more from the same author.

a good suspenseful story with a chuckle or two
I have listened to this whole series, thus far, and knew there was potential of killing off key characters so I was kept on the edge of my seat wondering who might die.
Jack Logan is also good for a chuckle or two with his Scottish sarcasm. The character descriptions are expanded upon by the fantastic reading by Angus King..I know the characters by their individual voices. I look forward to downloading and listening to the next.

Superb--hurry up with the next one JD Kirk!
This series is getting better. Love the team -- and new dog. Love the jokes, Love Angus King.
Only book in the series i didn't like was the Mr Whisper episode, which derailed Jack's career. Better when the team's on form! In this one two of the team are in danger but of course they all work together brilliantly to pull off a spectacular ending.
i fear that the introduction of a new series focused on the worst character (Hoon) may slow down output on this series. Please get back to work on the next Logan book, JDK!

The narration shines through
I love DCI Logan, and I would listen to anything narrated by Angus King, but the story line let’s this book down a little. After everyone he cared about was targeted by Mr Whisper some books back, with the team still dealing with the aftermath, it seems a bit much, and less than believable, to have a similar situation in Book 12. I’d rather a mystery where the police and forensic agencies are the investigators, not the victims. Despite that, whilst ever Angus King is voicing Jack, and Jack remains Jack, I’ll keep listening, be it Book 12, or Book 22. Great characters, made live by the stellar narration.

Brilliant
I just love these books. I listened to the first 11 one after the other having discovered the series by chance and was delighted to see the 12th book become available. Great story and very much enjoy the humour that is intertwined throughout the twists and turns. Roll on the next one.

Jd Kirk does it again!
Hilarious, absorbing and once again a great story! JD Kirk is by far my favourite author and Angus King’s intimate understanding of each character and embodiment of them often makes you forget he is the only one narrating! The best duo on audible by far! The only disappointment is the agonising wait for the next book!!!

Good as usual
Always a good story funny but with bits of suspense I thought we were going to lose a couple characters
