Publisher's Summary

A recurrent, unidentifiable noise in her apartment. A memo to her boss that's replaced by obscene insults. Amanda - a successful architect in a happy marriage - finds her life going off kilter by degrees. She starts smoking again, and one night for no reason, without even the knowledge that she's doing it, she burns her husband with a cigarette. At night she dreams of a beautiful woman with pointed teeth on the shore of a blood-red sea.

The new voice in Amanda's head, the one that tells her to steal things and talk to strange men in bars, is strange and frightening, and Amanda struggles to wrest back control of her life. Is she possessed by a demon, or is she simply insane?

Don’t listen or read this book, use caution.

I am pretty certain that something demonic tried to attach itself to me listening to this. I got extremely irritated and was just in a hateful mood after listening and didn’t feel right.

Large letdown

I came for demonic fiction. but was left listening to a woman doing crappy things and conveniently blaming them on demons. Kinda pathetic story wise.

The voice actor was fine except for her take on male voices. Jesus it was horrible.

Wow! Excellent story and narration.

Wow. I had no idea what I was getting into with this one. I've been hearing about it for years and it's been sitting, staring at me from my tbr for a long, long time.

I swear I thought it was a vampire story. Maybe that's why I had been avoiding it. But, since it's Women in Horror month, I decided I needed to finally give in and I am so glad that I did.

Turns out, I absolutely loved everything about this one. The writing was phenomenal. The storyline was fast paced and engaging. There was a palpable growing sense of dread on every page.

Excellent. 5 Stars for sure.

Surprisingly feminist

I liked the ending and once the story started going it was great and fun but it just felt like it was slow to get there. I don't think Id read it again but I would recommend it

Gripping!

This is a short read, but very much worth it. It is a book that you will go through quickly because you can’t stop until the end. 10 out of 10 recommend.

Predictable horror

Tiktok made me get this book and I do regret using a credit on it. I didn't like how predictable it became. Eventually it was like "Okay get it on with so that I can predict the next thing to happen." It also wasn't scary unless you have a huge fear of possession. Also, random homophobia right at the beginning of the book?? It wasn't even on character for the pre-possessed main character. That immediately made me not like the character which was the opposite of how it should have been because then I just didn't have sympathy for her when she's put though all of the bad situations later in the book. Relies on implied emotions instead of taking the time to develop in depth the characters; no twist (if you can call them twists) was really earned.

Really good short read

This book wasn’t as scary as I was lead to believe it would be but it was still a great book. Will be looking for more by this author. Love the narrators voice!

Non-Stop Trill Ride

From the very beginning to the very end this book is a rollercoaster of twist and turns. Of Hope and of loss. A fight between Good and Evil. Well worth your time.

Unsettling

Very creepy and unsettling. Easily the best possession story I've read since The Exorcist. Highly recommend
