Mindfulness is not about complicated and otherworldly woo-woo spiritual practices. It doesn't require you to be a part of any religion or a movement. What mindfulness is about is living a good life (that's quite practical, right?), and this book is all about deepening your awareness, getting to know yourself, and developing attitudes and mental habits that will make you not only a successful and effective person in life, but a happy and wise one as well.

Story
In Joel's Schwartzberg's 10-plus years as a strategic communications trainer, the biggest obstacle he's come across - one that connects directly to nervousness, stammering, rambling, and epic fail - is that most speakers and writers don't have a point. They typically have just a title, a theme, a topic, an idea, an assertion, a catchphrase, or even something much less. This book shows you how to identify your point, leverage it, stick to it, and sell it and how to train others to identify and successfully make their own points.

Story
Most of us are quite relaxed and confident when we're with our friends and family. We can tell a story or even tell a joke. But put us on a platform and we can feel very different. When we speak to an audience, we often put on a public mask; and use a different voice. Why can't we seem to be ourselves when we give a talk? In this audiobook, we will look at all aspects of spoken communication, from structure right through to delivery. We will learn how to have a conversation with our audience - to be ourselves - so that we connect with them every time we speak.

Story
What happens when you learn to communicate better with everyone? No doubt you’ve had to endure a painfully awkward conversation, more than once in your life. Maybe it was a stranger, a colleague, or a date. Maybe it was a group discussion. You found yourself breaking a sweat, not knowing what to say. The more time passed, the more tense you became. You thought about all the communication books you’ve read in your life and wished you had them with you…to knock yourself unconscious as a way out of the conversation. The best thing about the whole situation was the moment it ended.

Buyer Beware!!!
If you look at the reviews you can tell they were all written around the same time and probably by the same (fake) person. It's spam basically to drive up the ratings on the book. The book itself reads like spam. And who is G.S. Hook? I can't find anything about this "author" and it is listed as "publisher". Just weird...

Best avoided
The book is riddled with cliques, generalisations and over-simplifications. It's of such poor quality I'm surprised it has been published. I can't help but wonder if the other 5 star reviews which persuaded me to try it are genuine. Overall I'd describe it as being of very poor quality. Vocal delivery is hard on the ear. I also noticed grammatical errors that somehow slipped through editing.
The point at which I concluded my time was being wasted was its discussion on how to avoid managers discriminating against minorities in hiring. The solution? Have a clear written policy that explaining they shouldn't. Problem solved right? Factors like prejudice and unconscious bias aren't considered. There were many other examples of the author attempting to make a complicated world one dimensional. Given it's about communication skills, the fact that it does the job of communicating and engaging so poorly pretty much says it all.
Best avoided.
