Publisher's Summary

Communion is the iconic classic in which Whitley Strieber describes his 1985 close encounter experiences. This book, which fundamentally changed the way we understand close encounters and alien abductions, is presented here with a new introduction by the author.

The message of Communion, that something unknown is really happening to people but that we have not studied it enough to understand it, remains as timely now as it was in 1987 when the book was first published. And Whitley Strieber's riveting account of what he experienced, along with his relentless and expert pursuit of the reality behind the experience, is to this day the greatest such account ever published.

Do not miss this great classic and the powerful introduction that explores the situation as it stands today—even more provocative and important now, as official sources are admitting that UFOs are real unknowns and that they seem to have something to do with close encounters.

After YEARS of patient waiting, Communion

There’s not much that hasn’t already been said about this gem, but hearing it now in Whitley’s own special way of narration is as visceral and terrifying as ever! But it’s scarier now, after decades of living with the visitors, Whitley has come to enough of an opinion to say “Yes, I would call them demons” I urge you to read all of his autobiographical books, and a huge THANK YOU TO AUDIBLE for bringing it to me 6$ cheaper than apple!

Well worth it

I bought this book as a boy in elementary school and finally read it recently, now in my forties. I hesitated when I saw the new edition on Audible, but when I learned that Strieber narrates his book, I decided to purchase it and am absolutely glad I did. Performance is a little touch and go with background noises (computer alerts) audible, but there is nothing like this book narrated by the one who experienced it. Such a absolutely beautiful, poetic and haunting testimony is a treasure to have and a prescient anthem for our time

Must be a fan of the author

Sometimes his voice gets a little boring. I listened to the whole book because I’m interested in the author and his experiences. If you are not a believer you won’t like it.

Woah

About mid-chapter 11, I decided that this fellow is obviously a great SciFi writer, but the book is bunk as considered actuality. He's too busy promoting himself as a geniously beautiful mind to be taken seriously and it really seemed outer limits that he remembered Dec 26 in such detail but nothing else until prompted under hypnosis. As welk, the narration seemed as if he were telling a fairy story to children. I never bothered with the rest of it.

An absolute treat to hear this read by the author

I have not read this book since the late '80's, and listened to the original abridged version of the audio some years later. Roddy McDowell did a good job with the edited version of the book, but it does not compare with this full version complete with new foreword from the author himself.

I am surprised how this book has not aged. I had to pull myself up when the president of Russia was announced as Gorbachev in a late chapter, so current and topical is the book today, still.

Meh. Lot’s of nightmares...

Communion;;
noun; the sharing or exchanging of intimate thoughts and feelings, especially when the exchange is on a mental or spiritual level. Well if there really was communion, it was a one way street with the Aliens. I listened to this about 4 months ago,, and was struck by how much of the book ~ Strieber tries to discern between what actually happened to him and what was not,
There were no real insights in his interactions with them, It’s hard to describe, but book was a big disappointment...

Utter Nonsense

I bought this book with the intention of seeing if I could work out whether the author was actively lying or simply delusional.
For the first half of the book, I was undecided. For most of the second half, I was leaning towards delusional. But then the last part degenerates into a word salad of new age mystical woo, taking in the “ancient wisdom” of the Aztecs, the ancient Egyptians with the pyramids and Sphinx, tarot cards, and inevitably the deployment of the word quantum.
Much of the author’s argument is structured like the pitch of a skilled conman, but it all leads to an agenda of the most ridiculous mystical nonsense it has ever been my misfortune to encounter.
It’s been entertaining, but sadly for all the wrong reasons, hence the low rating.

A Ufology Classic

This is a must for every ufologist, and everyone interested in the subject of alien abductions.

However, there is a buzzing noise in the background of this production which makes it very hard to listen to through headphones, or at any great volume. It sounds like it was recorded on a microphone which wasn't grounded properly. I tried on two separate devices and got the same noise.

An absolute Classic

I read Communion when it first came out and it began my ongoing, though not intense, interest in ETs and UFOs. My background is in science, but over the decades my certainly about this phenomenon has only solidified. Hearing Whitley read this himself is like hearing it for the first time. For anyone remotely interested in our ultimate return to the shared non-physical ‘one’ mind, human DNA’s evolution and why the ETs are becoming less coy now, Communion is ET/UFO 101 and got me hooked. Since its writing, there is massively more information from reliable sources, especially from brave Retired military people who think its time to let the cat out of the bag, at least to the point of removing any doubt about their reality. Digging deeper gets infinitely interesting … trying to piece together to what extent (or if) they’ve been manipulating human DNA over thousands of years etc... Anyway I can’t recommend this highly enough.
