Story
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

a detailed analysis for each topic!
the narrator has a very engaging tone,
an enjoyable listen, the topics covered are explained in an interesting way,
the fact of expose these topics from the point of view of a child to the point of view of an adult made me understand many things, especially the traumas that a child can suffer and how they affect his future.
very interesting also the fact that ADHD is not a real disease but can be treated with other natural remedies, solving it with the right education for children, and with a very sympathetic approach in adults
