Publisher's Summary
From the creator of The Honest Toddler comes a fiction debut sure to be a must-listen for moms everywhere.
There are good moms and bad moms - and then there are hot-mess moms. Introducing Ashley Keller, career girl turned stay-at-home mom who's trying to navigate the world of Pinterest-perfect, Facebook-fantastic, and Instagram-impressive mommies but failing miserably.
When Ashley gets the opportunity to participate in the Motherhood Better boot camp run by the mommy-blog-empire maven she idolizes, she jumps at the chance to become the perfect mom she's always wanted to be. But will she fly high or flop?
With her razor-sharp wit and knack for finding the funny in everything, Bunmi Laditan creates a character as flawed and lovable as Bridget Jones or Becky Bloomwood while hilariously lambasting the societal pressures placed upon every new mother. At its heart, Ashley's story reminds moms that there's no way to be perfect - but many ways to be great.

Narrator overacted... first book I've returned to audible
The story could have been good had the narrator allowed the writing to do its own work. Unfortunately, the narrator had such an incredibly affected tone that I couldn't get through a full chapter. It was cringeworthy. Writing this comedic doesn't need so much interpretation from an overly dramatic narrator. Thankfully audible allows returns. This is my first book to fall into that category. I may try a non audio version at some point since the writing sounded like it had potential to be a good read.

Ashley Keller is no Bridget Jones
The main character ruined the book for me. I've read the comparisons to Bridget Jones, but they are viciously unfair to poor Bridget. Sure, she was a wreck, but she was a lovable, generous, wreck who only hurt herself. Ashley, though. Ashley has got to be the most selfish, self-entitled, self-righteous, judgmental protagonist to ever have been written into existence.
If Bridget saw a homeless woman starving and cold, she would buy her a Burberry jacket and then bemoan her overdraft. If Ashley saw the same woman, she would envy her the ability to sleep through the night before accidentally having her arrested. Then find a way to blame her husband for it.
I finished the book, but it was a hate read. A predictable hate read. I liked the narrator, and the story line was good, but somehow, compulsive self-indulgence and impulsiveness does not have the same charm when the end result is a homeless child.

Not for people without kids
I admit I’m not a “breeder”, so perhaps this book is beyond me. However, the main character just comes across as shallow, clueless, whiny, and unwilling to actually do things to make her situation better.
I’m having a hard time appreciating the story or listening to her constant excuses and avoidance of reality. I keep hoping the book will get better because of its high ratings, but maybe only stay-at-home moms can appreciate her issues.

So relatable!!
This book was hilarious and relatable! I felt like someone was spying into my life and watching me fail at being a stay at home mom and then spun it into a hilarious tale. I feel like we all have felt like the main character from time to time. I myself am a stay at home mom of 5. I was a minimalist who married a hoarder. I feel like I can never get it all right. This book was awesome.

Very funny and captivating
After reading some of the reviews, I was worried I’d chosen the wrong book. How wrong they were!! This book is so interesting, the performance was great. Yes, she “complained” a lot, but, let’s be honest, she was saying what a lot of us have said being stay at home moms!! It’s just taboo to voice it. I felt like she knew everything that went through my head during that time in my children’s lives. It was a “real” point of view some of us have. I used to work and then decided to stay at home with the kids, it’s absolutely not for me, kudos to the moms who can really do it, I know I can’t. ❤️

Ashley is my sister wife
This. Is. Spot. On. Seriously, one of the most relatable books I’ve read. As a mom with no clue what I’m doing most days, I had no trouble connecting to Ashley. Everywhere we (moms) look, we see these organic-only/baby yoga/crafty/DIY/high energy/freaking bionic moms with clean houses, great hair, perfectly contoured makeup, and no wrinkles who seem to be crushing motherhood and not missing a beat. They’re working full time jobs, (or staying at home full-time with their kids, which let’s be honest, is just as hard) going on play dates, volunteering, staying in touch with all their friends, baking gourmet gluten-free cookies, making time for self-care, cooking Instagram-worthy dinners, running marathons, etc etc etc. HOW DO THEY DO IT? These super-women, who I suspect on some level are actually dead inside, make the rest of us “okay moms” feel like failures because we’re just barely managing to make sure our shoes match while keeping our children fed, watered, and reasonably clean (the pool is definitely a valid substitute for a bath). We judge each other constantly, when we should be leaning on each other. We shouldn’t be pretending that our lives are Instagram-perfect. We should be supporting each other in our struggles, and letting each other know we’re not alone.
Soooo in summary (sorry for the rant)… If you’ve ever thought less of yourself because another mom seemed more perfect than you, please read this book. We are all imperfect, and that’s okay.

Rings very true - funny!
I follow this author on social media and she is funny so I was keen to read this. Elements of this will ring true with all the Mamas I know - it's also a superb summation of the hold social media has over Mothers and the pressures we pile on to ourselves. Thoroughly enjoyable - you will laugh out loud and maybe wipe away a few tears!
