In the course of my more than 15 years of experience as an attorney, I’ve worked on billions of dollars’ worth of public construction projects, and I’ve seen them succeed and fail. The general lack of prior experience that many public officials have, when properly acknowledged, can be a great asset, rather than a significant detriment. How is that so? When you come into a project without the burden of prior assumptions based on previous project experience, you can reenvision what a successful project should be, and what your goals should be.

1% construction 99% self development
a lot about communication, dos and don't, and self development. very very little insight about the construction industry. it almost feels like a self development book was rewritten to include the keyword "construction" just to be able to publish it in another category.

Reaching to call this "construction management"
Joe Egan is a respectable individual with knowledge of construction. I went into the book looking for a little bit of insight into better handling my responsibilities as a Superintendent, but was disappointed that majority of his advice was very generic towards management in general. A lot of the tips he gives are pretty much common sense and things you already know that you should be doing, but there are a few other examples and tips that were insightful.
Overall this isn't a "must read" if you are considering getting into construction management. If you are already in the field and experienced, then this book won't offer anything really new except for a few tips on critical thinking and how you should respond to certain events. Not bad, but not good. Just decent

Good for personal development
I agree with another reviewer above. fantastic for personal growth and identifying places you may need to grow your management style but nothing about construction. as in there no specifics regarding any of the processes of construction start to finish but how different scenarios within the process can challenge your character and fortitude. very good narrator though. likeable type voice.

Too generic
The book does not contain proper information on construction management. The concepts are very abstract and rarely on-topic. I found it pretty irrelevant to the title. I would class it as best as a low-grade self-help book.
