Publisher's Summary

Suppose you could ask God the most puzzling questions about existence, and God would provide clear, understandable answers? It happened to Neale Donald Walsch. Conversations with God is Walsch's account of his direct conversations with God, beginning in 1992 while Walsch was immersed in a period of deep depression. He composed a letter to God in which he vented his frustrations, and much to his surprise, even shock, God answered him.

Focusing on the universal truths that influence all life, Conversations with God offers a picture of the way life could be better. The dialogue challenges us to push past the imagined boundaries of what we believe ourselves capable of and look instead to all that we can attain as cocreators with God.

Neale Donald Walsch lives with his wife, Nancy, in southern Oregon. Together they have formed ReCreation, a nonprofit foundation for personal growth and spiritual understanding with the goal of giving people back to themselves. Walsch lectures and hosts workshops throughout the country to support and spread the messages contained in Conversations with God.

Award-winning actor Edward Asner is best known for the television series Lou Grant. Ellen Burstyn's film roles have established her as one of the greatest modern actresses.

Use of female and male voices

Use of both female and male voices for god, sometimes switching in mid-sentence makes the overall performance less appealing.

I love the simplicity here

I really enjoyed listening to this book! I listened to it on my way to a body mind spirit expo!

The part that really got me about this book is the way in which we describe God and then we describe the devil. both definitions are! This was a great revelation in many ways for people who read this book and understand what they're saying. It shows when the author talks about this part of the level of control that's put in place to keep religion That's the least around her next. When in reality if we didn't have the control of place religion would be a beautiful thing!

Going through this book I love how they describe hell! It really comes with what the Buddhists say about samsara and how the Taoist see the world. We also see how the Christians see the world and for the most part they're blind to the fact that this is actually help.

After listening to this book I realized that minimalist have a few things to teach the rest of us. I'm not saying strict minimalism, but I found myself in a store looking at stuff. I realized I'm buying stuff just to buy a bigger house to feed the banks. I can very much see a large downsizing coming in my future and it's been a long time in coming!

THE NEW AGE WILL NEVER GET OLD

PRESENTED HERE WITH THAT OLD COMMUNICATION
MODE, AUTOMATIC WRITING, IS YET ANOTHER VARIATION
ON ANCIENT THEMES. A CLEVER MIX OF PANTHEISM,
UNIVERSALISM, AND EVEN THE SAME OL' "IS NOT, IS"
DEEEEP THOUGHT, I KNEW I WAS READING A COMPILATION
OF 'WISDOM' UTTERANCES AUTHORED BY SNL'S
JACK HANDY.
WELCOME TO A PLACE WHERE WORDS ARE ONLY NOISE
AND THEREFORE GOD'S WORD IS, UHHHH, WELL... GOD'S WORD
IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED. ONE MUST, HOWEVER, TRUST ONE'S
THEIR FEELINGS. GEE, WASN'T THERE A RAHSNEESH
SWAMI GUY WHO PREACHED THE SAME THING YEARS AGO
IN A COMMUNE IN NORTH CENTOREGON YEARS AGO?
I WONDER HOW THAT TURNED OUT.
THIS STUFF IS NOTHING NEW, BUT SADLY MANY ARE BEING
DUPED INTO THINKING THAT BECAUSE IT SOUNDS SOOOO
IMPRESSIVE IN A MUMBO-JUMBO WAY IT'S JUST GOTTA
BE TRUE!
TO BELIEVE GOD CREATED YOU SO YOU AND HE COULD
TOGETHER HELP EACH OTHER DISCOVER THEIR SELF....???
SERIOUSLY?
I COULD GO ON AND ON. HAVEN'T EVEN MENTIONED THE
MYRIAD STARK STRAW-MAN ARGUMENTS SET UP THROUGHOUT!

Contradictions

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes I would. Because it was very highly rated so I determined to know why.

Would you ever listen to anything by Neale Donald Walsch again?

I don't think so.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The switching of the male and female voice were novel to me. It was well done.

Did Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue, Book 1, Volume 1 inspire you to do anything?

No God in the conversion lost his God credibility when he contradicted himself.

Any additional comments?

Nice thoughts.Would have been better had the attempt to not be so 'god like' authoritative not been there. This is purely an imaginative work. Not a divine encounter as made out to be.
