Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author and conservative icon Dr. Ben Carson lays out a hopeful and inspiring road map for how America can come together.

External physical characteristics that are genetically encoded are things over which no individual has control. But rather than appreciating the gift of diversity, some have chosen to use it to drive wedges between groups of people. Some of these external characteristics are associated with the past moral failing of slavery. Though slavery in America formally ended in the 1860s, the vestiges of that evil institution are still with us today, and those vestiges often inflict guilt on some and facilitate feelings of victimhood in others.

In Created Equal, Dr. Carson uses his own personal experiences as a member of a racial minority, along with the writings and experiences of others from multiple backgrounds and demographics, to analyze the current state of race relations in America. Instead of using race as an excuse to remake America into something completely antithetical to the Constitution, Dr. Carson suggests ways to enhance and bring great success to our nation and all multiethnic societies by magnifying America's incredible strengths instead of her historical weaknesses.

Critic Reviews

“This book is what the American people need: the true, unfiltered, and unabashed history of race in America and a blueprint for a real path forward. We have come a long way since the days of Martin Luther King Jr. and his famous "I have a dream" speech, and Dr. Ben Carson embodies that progress in every way imaginable. This book should be a must-read for any American struggling to comprehend the left’s anti-American racial agenda, and especially for those espousing it.” (Bob Unanue, CEO, Goya Foods)

"Dr. Carson’s Created Equal brilliantly reveals the destructiveness of false divisions in society through his moving conversation on education, faith, race, and values in America." (Newt Gingrich)

"To the great number of Americans who care about the erosion of belief in American exceptionalism, add Created Equal to your reading list. Not because you will agree with every point Dr. Carson makes, but because his point of view - borne of a lived experience in realizing his American Dream via personal excellence - sparks the type of spirited discourse our country needs to hear right now. Dr. Carson uses his personal story to narrate our country’s evolution with respect to race relations. It also reinforces the idea that individuals, regardless of the conditions of their birth, possess unlimited potential to become the best version of themselves if they do the work." (Cordell Carter, esq., executive director, Aspen Institute Socrates Program)

Great American

I wish that all Americans would read this book in their high school Civics class. Respect for each other is what can unite our country.

Great Book – I love Ben Carson, such a great man!

I recommend listening to this book. I found that I agreed with over 90 percent of what he said.
I think Ben Carson has lived the life of dealing with racism and hate and he has overcome this and survived. Ben is not a victim, but a leader.

What was one (or more) of the most memorable moments of “Created Equal”?
I really liked how Ben Carson talked about his personal encounters with racism and his struggles and how his mother helped Ben and his brother do well in life. It is so sad that the mainstream media loved Ben Carson until he declared himself to be a Republican.

Any problems with this book?
I am not so sure of his description of the policeman (Derek Chauvin) who kneeled of George Floyd’s neck. When I initially saw the videos of the policeman, I thought that the policeman murdered George Floyd. However, the policeman was following protocols, so this case may not be a case of murder or racism. Also, there may have been other reasons why George Floyd died.

Would you consider the audio edition of “Created Equal” to be better than the print version?
Print edition is better, because it includes PHOTOGRAPHS! WHY DOESN’T THIS AUDIO BOOK INCLUDE A PDF OF ALL THE PHOTOS IN THE BOOK! Honestly, I felt ripped off!

Overall comments?
Good listen. The narrator does a great job.

Excellently Written

This book was one of the most clearly written books that I’ve ever listened to. The conciseness and plain language really made this book very easy to understand and learn more about our Country’s foundation and the way it should be run by our elected leaders.

Well Witten common sense for all

Excellent performance, dissects the intricacies of our government, the complicit media, and manipulation of the people.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. I love God with all my heart, mind and strength. I also love my neighbor as I love myself.

We are a strong and talented country. Stay positive, seek truth, and soak up all the world has to offer us, as a dry sponge.

Thank you Ben Carson, MD and all the collaborators, Candy Carson, Dr. Alveda King and Mr. Terrence Kidd.

Carson has a great way of explaining how different political factions can get along for the betterment of the country, in the illustration of “neighbors with different political signs in their yard”
