Learning how to write a book is easy. Learning how to write a book that doesn't suck and can actually make you money - and set you up for a full-time writing career is harder.
But it's nowhere near impossible. And it's far more doable than you can imagine. The trouble is, most books offering tips on how to write a book fail to address two key considersations: 1) Most self-published nonfiction books suck. 2) It's almost impossible to make a living from one self-published nonfiction book.

While writers might disagree over showing versus telling or plotting versus pantsing, none would argue this: If you want to write strong fiction, you must make your readers feel. The reader's experience must be an emotional journey of its own, one as involving as your characters' struggles, discoveries, and triumphs are for you. That's where The Emotional Craft of Fiction comes in. Veteran literary agent and expert fiction instructor Donald Maass shows you how to use story to provoke a visceral and emotional experience in readers.

Most people think the way to write a best seller is to have a lot of talent and even more luck. As you will learn, there is a recipe for success, and luck may be the least important ingredient in creating a best seller. No one has cracked the code better than James Scott Bell. A best-selling author himself, and the author of the number-one best seller for writers, Plot & Structure, Mr. Bell has been teaching the principles of best-selling fiction for over 20 years, principles that apply to any genre or style.

Publisher's Summary
Plenty of writing advice out there is focused on the nuts and bolts of writing. How to do it, when, how to market it and where, etc.
But this is not that sort of book. If you want to learn to write more compellingly, with more skill and expertise, you can do it, easily. The really tricky bit, though, is understanding why.
Uncover this "why" for yourself and you get in touch with the inexhaustible engine of your creativity, the human core of why we bother to create at all. Get to know this root well and you will not need gimmicky books full of writing prompts to blast away your writer's block. You will not need "inspiration" or 31 awesome tips and tricks.
When you were a baby, something made you open your mouth and speak. Understand the thing that inspired you to do this, and you're more than halfway to being the creative, productive, and generative human being you were destined to be. When you were a tiny baby, your head was full of mostly nothing and the world was new and unknown. You barely had the skill to move yourself around the environment, and you most definitely lacked the skill to do what humans are most known for - communication.
At the root of all creative expression is a deep, inborn, and very human desire to be heard and understood.
Ask yourself this simple question: why write at all?
Once you've managed to answer this question for yourself, you'll have found something that will be incredibly valuable to your writing career, wherever it takes you: your purpose.
Tapping into the deep roots of why you are compelled to write at all is a brilliant way to unlock your true motivations and your ultimate reason for that urge to take what's in your head and put it out there in the world.
Remember, all change and growth begins with the creativity of imagining something different. It's quite likely that opening the door on your innate creativity will invite all sorts of new skills and insights into your life, not just the verbal ones.

Too simplistic
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Hate of my time. I was looking for something innovative and unique. Neither happened.
Would you be willing to try another book from Simeon Lindstrom? Why or why not?
I'd have to think on it.
Have you listened to any of Craig Beck’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Haven't heard him before, but he's an excellent narrator.
Could you see Creative Writing: From Think to Ink being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No.
Any additional comments?
Could have been so much more.
