Story
I am Meredith, princess of faerie, wielder of the hands of Flesh and Blood, and at long last, I am with child - twins, fathered by my royal guard. Though my uncle, Taranis, King of Light and Illusion, claims that he is the true father since he abducted me from my home, betrayed, and defiled me. And now he has branded my guards as a threat to my unborn children. Bearing an heir has placed me halfway to my aunt’s throne, that much closer to my reign over the Unseelie Court - and well ahead of her son, my cousin Cel, in this race.

Story
A child’s wish for her father comes true. The end of the world has never been so much fun. Conquering personal demons becomes all too real. It’s not always about winning; sometimes it’s about showing up for the fight. It’s about loving your life’s work, and jobs that make you question everything. In this anthology, 17 authors have woven together brand-new stories that speak to the darkness and despair that life brings while reminding us that good deeds, humor, love, sacrifice, dedication, and following our joy can ignite a light that burns so bright the darkness cannot last.

Story
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Publisher's Summary
In her 25th adventure, vampire hunter and necromancer Anita Blake learns that evil is in the eye of the beholder...
Anita has never seen Damian, her vampire servant, in such a state. The rising sun doesn't usher in the peaceful death that he desperately needs. Instead, he's being bombarded with violent nightmares and blood sweats.
And now, with Damian at his most vulnerable, Anita needs him the most. The vampire who created him, who subjected him to centuries of torture, might be losing control, allowing rogue vampires to run wild and break one of their kind's few strict taboos.
Some say love is a great motivator, but hatred gets the job done, too. And when Anita joins forces with her friend Edward to stop the carnage, Damian will be at their side, even if it means traveling back to the land where all his nightmares spring from...a place that couldn't be less welcoming to a vampire, an assassin, and a necromancer.

I am so conflicted
Which character – as performed by Kimberly Alexis – was your favorite?
Kimberly is one of the best readers out there, and many times she was the best part of the book
Any additional comments?
Anita Blake is one of my all-time favorite characters, but the stories have become so boring to me in the last few years. There has been very little character development, and even the sex scenes are mostly a waste of time, which might be surprising to some considering how much sex is in these books. I used to enjoy them, but that was back when they used to be a smaller part of Anita’s life - lately, all the books feel to me like they are about her relationships and trying to convince everyone else (the reader and other characters in the books) why we should care.I keep coming back to this series because I LOVE the characters, but the writing has been so bad lately that I end up skim reading to get past the boring parts, and it makes me sad. There are still occasional flashes of what drew me in the past - usually scenes involving Edward. Somewhere around “Narcissus in Chains”, LKH took a turn to polyamory that has overwhelmed everything else in the series. Instead of being a kick ass heroine with a great love life, she has a heroine that spends way too much time TALKING about all the relationships ad nauseum. There are several things that drive me crazy about the LKH’s writing, with this book, and also the last few books:1. She keeps reminding everyone of things that happened in prior books, over and over again in each proceeding book (sometimes the same thing several times in the same book). It almost feels like she is writing for someone who has never read any of the prior books in the series, and she feels she needs to tell everyone’s story over and over again.2. She over explains. I’ve lost count in this book of how many conversations contain a different way of saying “I don’t understand”, or “what did you mean by that” and then going on forever, explaining things that any person who has read a book in the series would get immediately. This has been going on in the series for a while, but this book has overwhelmed with it. I’m only a little past the half way point, and I swear she was paid by the word - it is full of useless filler that goes around in circles for pages and pages, doing nothing to advance the story. What makes me the craziest is that the one who needs things explained to them the most is Anita – how can you have a kick ass heroine who doesn’t understand almost everything and needs it explained to them over and over? You can’t.I will always read Anita’s stories, looking for those bits of gold in the dross. I am always hopeful that the next one will be as good as it was in the past, but I no longer recommend the books to others. There is nothing I love more than sharing the books I love with others, so this makes me sad.

Which scene was your favorite?
action scenes are good
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Kimberly Alexis the reader was excellent.
Any additional comments?
The best way to read/listen to this book is as follows. Read chapters 1 thru 3. STOP. Start again around chapter 35 and finish. If you're in prison with nothing but time on your hands read the missing chapters but I assure you can go without 30 chapters of asinine/copy and paste, wtf he said, then I said and he said we said then the cat said then she said dialog. the editor must be a terrorist out to shatter our minds. I've read every Anita Blake book and this is the worst. The author's muse must have her gas light on and LKH hasn't noticed yet.The action is good (credit given) as long as no one talking.

What does that mean?
"What does that mean?" This phrase has been overused in this book. OMG! What does that mean? It means if I had a nickel every time someone said that I would have gotten my money back! Crimson Death is the 25th Anita Blake book, yet Anita still can't get a f#*king clue!

Just get to the story!
Enough already! Can't we just get to the heart of the story - the next adventure, where Anita has to meet Edward in Ireland to confront a new big "BAD"? No. We have to endure all the whining and in-fighting for all the lovers and inhabitants of the Circus. It goes on ad nauseam.
We all waited a long time for this book to come out and now you have to wait a long time to get to the actual story while you wade through all the boring crap.

Long but worth it
A lot of people say they had trouble getting through this one. It's a rather long novel, so I'd recommend treating it more like two books, and expect to take a break somewhere in the middle. There are several stories going on at once, and quite a few loose ends to tie up by the final chapter. I secretly giggle that this may have been an attempt to appeal to those who begged for more storyline....this one has houuurrrs of story. XD

After 25......
Any additional comments?
There comes a point in a story where there just isn't a story anymore.... I do believe AB has done everything, been everywhere, slept with everyone, fought everyone & survived, time to put her to rest, seriously LKH Anita is done!
This book was 24 hours of "blah blah blah" , what happen to our tough girl? She's sappy, borning, confused and just plan annoying. Although I prefer an unabridged book, this one could have been cut down to about 12 hours, if LKH just omitted all the repeated statements in the conversation between AB and her lovers....
