Expecting A Bite, But Got A Nibble!

After listening to the first books in Eve Langlais other series, I was expecting this story to have some humor; however, this story came across as more serious. Croc's return is the first story I've listened that was about a shifter reptile, and it just didn't captivate me like other shifter stories.

Overall the plot and character development was good. I liked how Caleb and Renny come to terms with their past, and move on with their future together. The action was decent as they face dangerous situations, and there is a mystery to solve, but I really missed Eve's humor from her other series. I'm on the fence about continuing this series; however, even though this story was not what I was looking for, it still deserves at least four stars.

The narration was really good! This is the first story I've heard narrated by Chandra Skyye, and she did a great job.

Good Time Waster

I needed something to “take me away” from the stresses of my life and this book did it. It wasn’t great and it wasn’t awful. Croc’s Return is a good shifter romance when you need some escapism. The author started the story off really quick and it didn’t let up until the end.

It is a fast listen and its keeps you engaged by not having too many unnecessary scenes. I also liked that once the Caleb and Renny accepted their attraction the author didn’t throw in stupid conflicts to keep them apart. They tackled the final climax of the mystery together and that was enjoyable.

I try not to criticize narrator’s too much but this one bothered me something fierce. She pronounced “Caleb” like “Cowlub” throughout the book and it drove me nuts. I sometime also got the feeling like the voice could have computer generated like you see on those YouTube videos. I liked the story but it took me a long time to adjust to this narrator.

Great series!

This was definitely more serious compared to some of the other shifter books by the author, but it was still pretty good. It dealt with some "adulting" themes well and there was good character development. It is well paced and keeps you engaged. I especially appreciated that it didn't drag unnecessarily even though there were windows to do so eg Renny didn't withhold important information from Caleb that could have easily made things go round in frustrating circles. Also loved the small nod to characters from the Kodiak Point series, the fact that they're all in the same universe just makes it all a little better.

Loved my first reptile shifter audible

I loved this book and now after "hearing" them come to life - I love this book even more. This is my first reptile shifter experience, and it was different.
Caleb came back after he basically ran away from everyone a few years ago, even the woman he loved. What he didn't know was he left more behind that he ever knew.
Renny knew Caleb came back. She knew that eventually they will have to see each other.
Caleb's reason for running is more than meets the eye and eventually it comes out.
At home there are things happening that are out of place and Caleb need to find out what it is before they come for his family.
PS I love all the tidbits with Princess in it and how she goes for the jugular.
I love this series!!!

Good, more for the military at heart

This book is a romantic love story with shifter and mystery, plus military.

Caleb after fighting for your country and you decide to go home, but nothing is what it use to be. Remember when you make a choice there are consequences. He had no idea what he left behind, even though the cold shoulders did not deter him from claiming his mate. Even though he not only has a broken heart to mend he has a mess to clean up, not to mention the memories that haunt him. Before he can more forward he must heal his past.

Renny has always loved Caleb, but when he up and left for the military with only a text, it not only hurt it shattered her. She too has to suffer the consequences of her actions, and the one thing that Caleb left behind has given her no choice but to keep going on without him. Working two jobs to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table is taking a toll on her and when out of the blue Caleb comes back in thinking he can save the day, Renny is not so willing to give in again.

Good book, but not my kind of story. I was a bit disappointed, there was not as much comedy in this book like her others.

Loved the story!

I liked the story and have it in book form. However, I did like the voice of the narrator. The voiced characters were poorly done.
