Publisher's Summary

History isn't always what it seems....

Twelve months after his change, Alec MacAidan is still getting used to his many vampire talents. While most vampires would give anything to have more than one supernatural power, Alec craves nothing more than peace and time alone with Cronin. But when Alec meets entities from outside this realm, he's left powerless in their presence.

Zoan are half-lycan, half-dragon creatures that have slipped through time and reality, seemingly undetected by man and vampire. Or have they? They bear an uncanny resemblance to gargoyles, leaving Alec's view on all things weird to get a whole lot weirder.

This new quest leads Alec, Cronin, and their band of friends to Paris, Rome, and Moscow, where they learn that gargoyles aren't simply statues on walls. In the underground pits beneath churches all over the world, Alec discovers the Key's true destiny. Facing the Zoan might take every talent he has. And he may need help from the dead to get them all out alive.

I don't want it to be over!

This has been an awesome series. I hope N. R. will consider continuing it. I know she has other brilliant books. Cronin and Alec just grabbed at my heart. I love their entire team.

loved the series

I have listened to these several times and each time is always a treat.
All the characters just make the story come alive. The details really suck you in and I just lose myself. The only thing that annoyed me throughout the series is making Cole sound so old, like one foot in the grave! He's not even 60 yet!!! As I get closer to 50 , that is less and less old.
Joel does a phenomenal job with all the accents, from American to Russian.

Great series!

Alec finds out his true purpose with the help from the beyond. I always liked gargoyles, not so much now. There’s a new enemy in town and as usual they want Alec. The group are back together for some more adventures as EiJi likes to call it. We meet some new characters and I really didn’t want it to end so I’m hoping for more stories. Joel Leslie was great.

A fun tale

The last of the trilogy so far I know
I had a bittersweet emotion with this one because, I love this vampires they are so fun and crazy, I didn't want for that to end.

One thing that I love in this one is how well myth and history and fiction go so well together, it's awesome for me and it make it so wholesome.

The characters are so lovable you don't really want to part with them, it will be good maybe more females too just so Jodis don't feel so alone, but not really a bad thing.

The adventures they have are so cool, they go all over the world on this one, rediscovering myths and legends for almost all civilizations is so nice actually and get you the investigation seed to see this myths for yourself.

A super fun book to unwid, relax and learn.

Alec and co final adventure

I was not prepared for the heartbreak in this. Soooooo not prepared. N.R. Walker can write scenes that will have you crying like no other.

Alec and family are called once upon to save the world and they are doing it with quite a bit of flair what with Alec being a very, Very, VERY powerful vampire. But even so as Eiji said it is time for them to take it easy after this.

So much history, geography, myths and legends throughout the series, paired with adventure, romance, humor and heartbreak. A truly do not miss series with impeccable narration from Joel Leslie.

Poorly written

The author clearly never heard the golden rule of writing "show, don't tell". I've created a drinking game for when they use the word "shock" or the phrase "and yet". I can't tell if it's slightly better written than the first two previous books or if I've gotten used to it enough to stop cringing.
The saving grace is the narrator who is adequate at different accents. He even uses two separate English accents (and there are many) which is impressive.
The story itself was good, definitely an interesting play on ancient history, theories about ancient structured and supernatural creature. It has so much potential.

Brilliant narration and excellent story

I have to congratulate the narrator, Joel Leslie. The number of perfect accents, tones, pronunciation, male, female and emotive wording blew me away. Thank you! The story was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It kept my attention, referred to actual history and locations and was totally believable. Love the characters and characterisation. Just fab!

Fabulous

A wonderful book made AWESOME by Joel Leslie's incredible narration. So many different voices and accents all easily distinguishable. I sobbed over Horhae and Idelmo, more than when I read it myself. This series is so very recommended!
