Narrator was great the book not so much!!!!

The problem I have with this book is the fact it took 6hrs to get into the game, and this 6hrs weren’t filled on backstory, it took that long to create the MC. So basically you really only get 3hrs of storyline because, the lackluster battle scenes are filled with detailed descriptions of each attack. In other books that I have read the battle logs are saved until the end so you could focus more on the battles and not details, but this author gives you both which is redundant and takes away from the world/battles I’m trying to imagine. Maybe this book is better in an none audio form.

I'm going to be blunt.

There's no story. Haff the book are other stories that aren't even irrelevant right now. WHY? Why, do that I hate books like that. I couldn't listen to all of it, I still had about 3 hours left. The main character is crap. The author in the first couple of chapters, tells us that they're main character is smart and his an amazing gamer. Those are his main traits! All we learn from him is that he's great at asking questions about reality and the history of the planet but doesn't know Common Sense things about video games? HE DOES NOT EVEN IMPROVE!!! And what is with his spell choices? It doesn't make sense.

below adverage

Another example of a good concept poorly executed the author Ghost through every tiny miss miniscule thought that passes through the emcees head no matter how obvious it is she will give an example of something than the MC will have to go through it through his head in the most minute detail The MC constantly laments even the most minor mistakes even though he had no reason to not make that choice my issue with the narrator is he speaks way too slowly I keep screaming my head go on just speaks when get to the point

Good concept poor execution

THE author tried to reinvent the wheel and turned it square. The novel is a snooze fest the MC considers himself gamer yet is clueless and clingy to the point of child in diapers

Not for every one.

The first half of this book is for a very detailed creation of Kyren's new avatar body. The second half starts Kyren new life in Myelad even here the author spends a good deal of time letting Kyren crash and burn for a while before he gets a little more together. This book is for those who like a story where the author to go into unimaginable details on everything, it is almost as if the first book is a primer on everything that is new in this alternative universe. This is good for new listeners to this genre that need the detailed explanation, but not so for a veteran to the genre.

Great Premise Extremely Poor Execution

I loved the premise of the story but it definitely wasn't given justice. the first 4 hours of the book barely progressed the plot at all. What it did do however showed how whiny and stupid the protagonist was despite supposedly being a "genius" it was frustrating, the gods bickering, him obsessing over things for way ro long instead of accepting the situation at hand, him asking pointless questions wasting both our time and the overseers, wasting his queries, and making terrible dicisions or just being desicive and inactive for llong periods of time. Not to mention his occasion stubbornness to rebel like a spoiled child for no reason.Plus the perspective shifts to other characters was a poor choice. We just BARELY got into the game proper and the mc has done almost nothing and the book is almost over and you want to switch characters??? Despite all that I stayed and listend to the end desperately hopuing and wishing for both the book and the bmc to get better but it never happened. And The narrator despite doing decent male voices needs more practice at the female voices, but the real problem was the voice effects for the gods and overseer made it almost impossible to understand what they were saying at times even with a speaker set to 100% volume. I haven't been this disappointed in a book since Zombie Slayer by Cameron Milan

Very bland book, dosen't flow well in audio format

I got through it but I think the author just isn't there yet in their writing. Story is very bland and the the characters dialog is boring. there was very little there to draw me into the world their trying to create. I think their biggest mistake was spending to long on the setup. There is no build up and no climax. it's all very linear. I also didn't like their choice of echo and adding reverb to the gods and system messages.

In short, skip it. At least until there is a book 2 to judge it better.

When will the other 4 books come out?

I want the MMOlit genre to succeed. This by far one of the best written so far. Unlike others, the reading of the character sheet has been condensed into tiny chapters, so you can skip over them. I like the unique approach to joining the game. i hope the other books will soon be released.
