Publisher's Summary

Have you ever wished your cat could talk to you? If so, allow my story to be your cautionary tale.

Tracking down Aunt Lavender's kidnapper is proving to be more difficult than running through a swimming pool filled with peanut butter. Every lead we uncover ends with more questions than answers.

We're running out of ideas - and time, too. The mysterious Golden Lotus seems to hold the key to the investigation, but no one can tell us what it does or why Aunt Lavender might have been looking for it.

And if that wasn't enough to keep both my cranky feline familiar and me completely occupied, we find ourselves thrust into the center of another criminal investigation - this time as the lead suspects.

We have to work together to clear our names and get the Winterspell PD off our tails so we can continue our hunt for Aunt Lavender and the mysterious Golden Lotus.

Time is burning faster than the wick on one of my enchanted candles, and I fear it's about to sputter out.

no ending

this is a very good series. the only problem is that each book doesn't completely finish. I can't just let it go..I have to get the next one. I probably would have anyway because they are very good, but don't like not having the choice.

Absolutely Love this Series!

I love these stories and the build up of the relationship of Cora and Selene. The series starts out with a bit of a cantankerous relationship with Selene and Cora, but by the end of the this book, not only do Cora and Selene bond over their love for Lavender, but they begin to bond between themselves. I also like that Cora's walls are opening up to let Clint in her life and meet her family. I cannot wait for the next book!

Diva Cat Dominates, Tired Tropes, Mild MC

I love Danielle Garrett's stories, I am in love with the candle shop, the community of characters, the way magic is described, and most of all the mystery of Aunt Lavender. However I really am pretty over the cat and kept hoping for scenes where Selene would be left behind. As in the other stories I don't find the cat sassy as much as unlikeable and actively creates difficulty for Cora. By comparison Cora feels mild and lacks much personality. Also the whole the police actively hating the main character and being constantly hostile and determined to ruin their entire business and life is pretty tired as the main driving force of conflict. I actually took a couple of months off mid way through the story before returning because I needed a break. The story did improve through the second half mostly due to just lightening speed pace. I feel confused around what the story is trying to achieve with continuing to circle back to Cora's ex husband but I am enjoying the developing relationship between Cora and Clint more than I have in previous books. The most interesting aspects of magic and the threads of Aunt Lavender feel literally held until the the last chapter of each book. So every time I am ready to give up on the series the last chapter leaves with new cliff hanger with Aunt Lavender making me want to come back for the next volume to find out more. Amanda is always a fabulous narrator, and again there are great magical flavor in some scenes. I would love if the main character was more vibrant and the cat familiar maybe not so extra. Because I am so interested in the overarching story of the missing Aunt, and because I do really enjoy the moments when magic is discussed and the setting of the candle shop I will look for the next volume but I just hope some other aspects of this story improve.
