Publisher's Summary

They'll challenge what it means to be human and test the limits of love.

Amanda is a scientist for the military's cyborg program. Programming and repairing once-human soldiers is a lot easier than trying to date, so she buries herself in her work. She'll never admit that the cyborgs often seem like more than machines to her - especially the handsome AD-214.

Even though Cyborg Sector has erased his memories and turned him into a killing machine, AD-214 is aware of Amanda and her kind, gentle nature. When he starts to remember his former life, his system malfunctions, and only Amanda can save him. Then things go horribly wrong, and his squad of cyborgs - along with Amanda - become fugitives hunted by the military.

As the rogue cyborgs' memories come flooding back, their human personalities begin to re-emerge. Amanda's bond with AD-214 intensifies and she discovers that none of the cyborgs is merely a robot.

After she's captured by the military, AD-214 and his squad risk everything to rescue her. He and Amanda must fight not only for their survival, but the chance to prove that love is possible, even for a machine.

Half Man, Half Machine!

Lisa Lace's captivating new series Burning Metal, and it's alluring combination of man and machine does not disappoint! The plot was well thought out, fast paced with lot's of action, twist, suspense, and sexual tension between the H/h. I especially like the characters, and how AD-214 slowly becomes aware, takes charge of his "unite", and develops feelings for Amanda.

Michael Pauley's performance was good. He did an excellent job portraying the cyborg's; however, his voice for some of the characters was real deep which made it harder to hear with headphones.

I enjoyed this quick listen and look forward to the next book in the series. Received audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Not what i expected.

I have to admit i was a little hesitate about this audio book. I have never read/listen to any books about cyborgs. I was afraid i would not like it. I was wrong i loved it. This is book 1 to this series. I look forward to more in this series. .This is the story of Amanda, a scientist that works with cyborgs at Cyborg Sector. She tries to improve the cyborgs and by accident cause them to start remembering there past and start thinking independently. It starts with AD214 who wakes up and rescues his team of cyborg. They leave the compound and take Amanda with them after fighting their way out. Later another team of cyborgs are sent to destroy them. The scientist that started the cyborgs is the one who send the other cyborgs out to get what they call the blue team. These cyborgs are called clones. Blue team loses some of their team members but others escape. However, Amanda is taken. She is kept as a prisoner by the other scientist who has a secret about himself. Will AD214 and his team save Amanda? What is the secret??
I received this book free from the author for an honest review. I recommend this book,

It had potential, but falls short.

There was potential here for this to be a good book. But there was so many holes in the story and the characters needed to be expounded on. There needed to be more awareness of self to the cyborgs before there was love. There needed to be more interactions between the main characters. There needed to have less sex from side characters or less fantasy of sex and more actual sex if the author is trying to be erotica, I wasn't quite sure where she was going with it. I'm not even going to go into the strategic missions the cyborgs went on, it was a cluster from the start and was not well thought out. Plus there are random parts to the story that had no reason to be in the book. The story was interesting enough that I finished it, but I won't be getting anymore. Is the narrator supposed to sound like a robot? Not just when the cyborg speaks but for the whole book.

He's Just a Love Machine

Cyborg Heat is a very good story that touches on a lot of different ethical topics, such as "Just because we can do something, should we?" and "How human do you have to be to merit human rights?" BUT, it is also a steamy romance with bad guy/good guy action and a wicked twist. I was highly entertained and absolutely enjoyed this. Another great series by Lisa Lace!

Michael Pauley did a good job with voices and gave a good performance. Well-done audiobook all around.

Hot cyborgs, sexy doctors, and adrenaline oh my!!!

Any additional comments?

What would you do if your life's work was changing before your eyes in a wondrous new way that no one could predict? Would you deactivate the cyborgs you have come to care about so that you could correct the problem or would you have the courage that Amanda had and risk your life, career, credibility and heart to save them?!

AD-214 has been awakened and his confusion is understandable. The only thing that makes sense is that he needs to save his team and somehow Amanda is a part of the team. With each minute that passes AD-214 is changing and so is blue team. He knows that he is a cyborg and that something is malfunctioning with his systems but until he knows what it is he will do everything he can to keep his team safe and Amanda close.

This is a hot new series that's starts out with a bang! It grabs the reader and does not let go! Lisa Lace has created another amazing series that took me on an adventure that I did not foresee! She literally breathed new life in to her characters and made you feel for her cyborgs. I cannot wait to see what the next adventure will be!!!

The story line was good but......

The story line was good but the narrator sounded more of a cyborg than they did. The characters had no changes in their voices. This was a new author for me and I will try another series from her but not this one. The narrator really turned me off.

good story, performance less than great

the story line was entertaining, but the narrator's proclivity to talk louder and louder as an action scene or sex scene was happening detracted from the story. it's like he thinks getting louder makes it better. So I only rate this 4 out of 5.

Good start to the series

Would you listen to Cyborg Heat again? Why?

I was given this story for an honest review.

This was an interesting take on a cyborg story from the start of a cyborg becoming self aware. I enjoyed seeing the development of the different cyborgs' personalities, especially AD214's. It's interesting to see how the smallest things, like an update, can cause such a profound change. The difference between a thinking soldier and a completely robotic one.

The romantic development between AD214 and Amanda was interesting to see.

Overall it was a great start and I can't wait to see how the rest of the series plays out.

What about Michael Pauley’s performance did you like?

I don't think I have heard him before, but he did a god job of voicing the cyborgs both the animated ones and the completely robotic ones. Though some of the robotic sound did bleed over in some of his descriptions.

Do yourself a favour and read the book instead

What would have made Cyborg Heat better?

Cyborg heat was great but could've been better with a more believable ending. The solution seemed a little too convenient and uninspired... a deus ex machina of sorts.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the heroine best. Don't remember her name, but she was smart and spunky.

Would you be willing to try another one of Michael Pauley’s performances?

Never. Nothing will ever be able to compel me to ever listen to another Michael Pauley recorded audiobook. He was terrible. Nails on a chalkboard terrible. He succeeded in making the heroine, who happened to be a smart and hot scientist, sound like a breathy airhead. He should be banned from narrating women.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Cyborg Heat?

NA

Any additional comments?

Don't bother with the audiobook. The story is promising and I'd definitely look into other books in this series but the narration is a letdown.
