"Are you one of us?" a patient once asked Marsha Linehan, the world-renowned psychologist who developed dialectical behavior therapy. "Because if you were, it would give all of us so much hope." Over the years, DBT had saved the lives of countless people fighting depression and suicidal thoughts, but Linehan had never revealed that her pioneering work was inspired by her own desperate struggles as a young woman. Only when she received this question did she finally decide to tell her story.

However, there are limited resources for psychologists seeking to use DBT skills with individual clients. In the tradition of ACT Made Simple, DBT Made Simple provides clinicians with everything they need to know to start using DBT in the therapy room.

Scientific justification and literature review
NOT A SKILLS TEXT. More scientific justification and literature review to support techniques used. A lot of brain chemistry discussion with many miss pronounced technical terms. I went to medical school 35 years ago, and the first two-thirds of the book was almost impossible to follow. ( psychology is not my area of practice.) the last one third of the book was very interesting, how ever no skill sets were presented. Not at all what I expected. Not at all what I wanted.

Failed to meet stated expectations
It’s very sad as I was looking forward to this book. I’m very disappointed. In the beginning there’s many acronyms used but not defined. Going onto more medical terms & technical terms with no explanation. Very little covered about DBT skills and development. Much information discussed of various medical issues from an eastern medical standpoint.
