I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day, it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

Publisher's Summary
Every body can be a dancer's body!
All her life, Fiona has dreamed of becoming a dancer, but she was always told dancing was not for “fat girls” like her. Now, at age 35, Fiona is again confronted with her weight issues when the HR department kindly encourages her and a coworker, Stu, to attend a support group for people with “health” issues.
When quilting is suggested as a hobby to help with their totally opposite eating disorders (Fiona loves everything related to calories, Stu tries to avoid any), Stu insanely suggests they enter a local version of Dancing with the Stars instead....
What follows is a fantastic journey with a lot of ups and downs, sore feet, self-doubt, sweat, and tears mixed in with ghosts from the past.
Dancing Queen is a warmhearted and humorous story about self-doubt, dancing, friendship, and the courage to follow your dreams no matter what size you are.
If you love fast-paced, feel-good stories with snappy dialogue, lots of humor, and heart, this is the audiobook for you.

Heartwarming and Inspirational
This was such a wonderful story of friendship and never giving up on your dreams. I just fell in love with both Fiona and Stu. They were such opposites yet so good for each other. There was sadness and laughter as well as some instances where I felt like wringing a couple of necks! This is definitely a book I have no hesitation in recommending. Stefanie Kay does a great job with the narration and brings it all to life wonderfully.

Sweet, Encouraging Story
Dancing Queen was an absolutely incredible listen!
I found the story was never slow and always felt fresh. It was never rushed either. I thought the overall idea for the story was well thought out, and I loved the minor story lines. All the minor story lines were well thought out and complete.
The characters were so relatable, and the cast was so diverse, I think everyone could see themselves as one of the characters. The family dynamics felt so real. I think that is what I enjoyed most about this story. It didn't feel cheesy, but it felt like this could be someone's real life story, and not some fictional overally happy ending book.
I saw the outcome of the dance competion coming, however, I did not see what followed after the dance competion coming. I thought it was a fabulous way to finish off this wonderful novel.
I will easily listen to something else by Charlotte Roth in the future. She is such an incredible story teller. I loved that while her work felt like a real story, it wasn't sad like so many, but it had such an encouraging and uplifitng message.
Stefanie Kay did a great job with the narration. I was able to tell who was talking, just based on the voices she performed. She also portrayed the emotions of the events and characters well.
I received a copy of this audibook at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review.
P.S. If you like Dancing with the Stars that is an added bonus.

Winning is perspective
I have enjoyed three other Charlotte Roth audiobooks. This one was well written with a good storyline and good characters. There were several references throughout the book that disturbed me, so I took off a second star. The story was a bit depressing vs humorous.
Stu and Fiona are two realistic characters who are misunderstood by others as well as themselves. There were heartbreaking parts in this story as well as fun moments. Many of the secondary characters are quite quirky. I found myself rolling my eyes, but chuckling at them. Fiona's mother and sister caused my blood pressure to rise. This is a great story of perseverance and self acceptance.
Stefanie Kay did a great job narrating. Her performance brought the audiobook to life.

Dancing Queen
This was a great book! Fiona is “the fat girl” in her office. Fellow co-worker Stu, has his own set of issues. He’s a health nut and the exact opposite of Fiona., known as Skinny Stu. Their HR department thinks they need an intervention to deal with their health issues. HR suggests a quilting group. Stu suggests a local dancing competition instead. Fiona has always secretly dreamed of dancing , but was discouraged by her mom as being too heavy! The competition was the beginning of an unexpected friendship between Stu and Fiona. There are so many great moments in this story! Stu shows Fiona that she doesn’t have to Stay in the background as Fat Fiona. Secrets are revealed, family relationships are shaken up, and you will want to go along on Fiona and Stu’s journey. I reviewed this book for Audiobook Obsession Review Group.

unexpected but loved it
Dancing Queen is not a genre I typically listen to but it was so good! I loved the story line and that the main character followed her dreams, stood up to her evil sister and her selfish mom to do something she had always dreamed of doing. I hate the premise of her work feeling like they need to intervene in her and Stuart's personal weight issues but in the story, it's what it took for her and Stuart to jump start into chasing and achieving her dreams. There were definitely some twists that were unexpected and lots of humor (the aunt and her "assistant" :) ). Loved it!

Fun Quirky Listen
Dancing Queen is a fun, humorous , uplifting story. The message is to live your life, follow your childhood dreams and never give up. Fiona is comfortable being known as Fat Fiona. Her whole world is turned upside down, when Skinny Stu talks her into a Dancing competition. He shows her who she really is inside, pulls her out of her comfort zone, encourages her to be herself. Stu and Fiona are on a journey of self discovery together.
Stefanie Kay is an entertaining storyteller .She brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. It has fun,, humorous , laugh out loud moments. 🎧AudiobookObsessionReviewer🎧

Fat Fiona and Skinny Stu...
I loved this story! The unlikely friendship that develops between Fiona and Stu, as they deal with their personal demons is heartwarming. The support they show each other is fantastic. Never give up on your hopes and dreams!

I absolutely loved this book!
Struggling with obesity my whole life, this story really touched my heart. It deals with not only obesity but also other issues including dysfunctional family & the problems that follow.
It also tells about hopes & dreams and makes you believe that anything is possible.
The narration was really good, but a little slow, I adjusted speed according at it was perfect. I highly recommend this book!

Quick witted story!
I was slightly worried when I read the synopsis.... I make snap decisions all the time based on covers or if I've listened (or read), and enjoyed, the author previously. I've enjoyed several of Chatlotte Roth's previous books. I was tickled with Dancing Queen way more than I expected too! It's sweet and light but there's also this contention that's addressed like a billboard sign in Vermont. It's big, blaring and obvious that this book is about body image and the struggle peoplefacw, big or small. It's about the struggle we have within ourselves, our family unit, and even work or social events. I'll tell ya, as a bit girl myself, I am not a fan of the word fat. Its demeaning and I'm way more than a number on a scale. That is exactly what we get from this story.
However, it isn't just a deep story facing those inner demons most people struggle with. I'll tell ya, Charlotte Roth sure knows how to tell a story. This one runs you through a gamut of emotions. Plus their some funness that I was shocked with. I couldn't get enough of it! Then, we have Stu and Fiona's budding chemistry. I couldn't help smiling through the story! I think it's one many are going to enjoy. The narrator, Stefanie Kay was just great. I'm not sure I've listened to her previously but I tend to read around 10 audiobooks a week so I could have listened but I tend to get slightly n and story! I'll be watching for more from both of them.

Brilliant
I really enjoyed this because it is a real life issue, people are told they cannot do things because they are big and basically putting them down, in Dancing Queen, Fiona proves that she CAN do what she wants, regardless of what people keep saying.
It also had a bit of sibling rivalry going on, which we find out why later in the book and also a secret revealed.
Overall a great audiobook, I love Charlotte Roth's writing and the narrator was spot on with her emotion throughout and the storyline was great.

Dancing Queen
This was the first non-romance book that I really really enjoyed in a long time. I loved the story, the characters, the narration. it was a great read/listen all the way through. Stefanie Kay did an amazing job!

Finally
Almost every book seems to be about a skinny girl. So glad to finally listen to one that has a bigger gal. I love it! This book brought on an emotion Rollercoaster. From laughter to tears, to my own self doubt to encouragement, I enjoyed every bit of this book.

Dancing Queen
Fiona is a true hero, she has such inner strength and just rolls with life. Of course that is what she was pushed to think she had to do her entire life. This story is inspiring and heart warming. I love how little secrets can make huge impacts on how others see us. Fiona's sister was so cruel to her until she realized what made her the way she was. The story is so eyeopening. It makes you think and wonder what we all get too busy to look at and realize what is going on around us. Thanks audiobook obsession for the recommendation.

Dancing Queen!
Dancing Queen by Charlotte Roth is a great listen with brutal honesty. As someone who is overweight, many things in this book hit home. The character of Fiona was so endearing. I really enjoyed this book. Stefanie Kay was great performing this book. Thank you Audiobook Obsession for this wonderful listen!
