There’s only one problem—he tried to ruin her favorite sister’s life, and she made an absolute fool of herself in front of him. Can lasting happiness come out of such a beginning? And can a man die from chasing a woman too quick to be caught? Darcy is about to find out.

Glad I ignored the negative reviews
I really enjoyed this variation. I don’t understand the 1 star reviews. One such complaint was that it was nothing like the original. Many of us listen to these variations to see these beloved and even the detested characters in different circumstances. To see their love overcome different obstacles and triumph. I thought the narration was good. Ms. Lysy didn’t give each character completely different voices, the nuances were subtle but I could tell who was speaking. She did show emotion and excitement in all right places. It was not a monotonous performance to me.

Great Story - Narrator pronunciations off
The story was very nicely paced. A modest romance, it was very pleasant. Nicely written.
The narrator needs to brush up on pronunciations of British place names and terms such as footman. It would jarringly pull me out of the story. Most of the tonal variations for characters were good.

Good variation of P&P
As a fan of Jane Austin P&P it is risky picking variation stories. You may find one that is really good and others leave you shaking your head. The Escape package does allow you to listen to a few before you make a purchase. I liked this story but I would not purchase it. A good listen, worth the time.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Story was interesting. The reader killed the book
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Emma Lysy?
Someone who actually has a British accent.
Any additional comments?
I felt like I was listening to those automated voice answering prompts when he call customer service and can't get a real person no matter how many times you go through the prompts. It just keeps going and going and going until you give up and call another number hoping for a real person

Ruined by the narration
The narration is so odd that it is distracting from the story, completely unnatural with some very perculiar pronunciations. I suspect the narrator is not English which, in itself is not a problem, rather the over the top "British" accent she is affecting. I want to enjoy the story and would love to be able to review it properly but I'm finding it impossible.

Lovely story ruined by awful narration.
I have already read the Kindle version of this book and had no hesitation in getting the audible version. I am sorry to say that once again the narration has ruined a good story. The problem is once again the pronunciation. Hairtfordshire instead of Hertfordshire, Awnt instead of Aunt, and many more. This is not the first time audio books have been spoiled for me by incorrect pronunciation. I do hope there is a different narrator if the second book in the series is made into an audio book. Eilizabeth Klett or Pearl Hewitt would have been better narrators.

What if Darcy’s father is still alive?
What made the experience of listening to Darcy's Ultimatum: A Pride & Prejudice Variation the most enjoyable?
A lovely sweet story, well narrated.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Darcy's Ultimatum: A Pride & Prejudice Variation?
When both Darcy AND Elizabeth were each given an ultimatum that affected their entire futures.
What about Emma Lysy’s performance did you like?
Just about all of it. I've listened to a lot of Regency era audiobooks and heard some real horrors in narration. Emma Lysy did a pretty good job in my opinion.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Darcy, marry by the end of the season or lose your inheritance!
Elizabeth, find a husband by the end of the season or marry Mr. Collins!
Any additional comments?
This is the first of a series of three books so not everything is resolved by the end. Looking forward very much to the next two. I gather from the author that the second will be coming in the not too distant future.
There's no explicit sex or even very sensual scenes in this book so I can recommend it for all audiences.

good story, bad narrator
the story is light-hearted and quite funny in places, however the narrator is quite off-putting as she is an American pretending to be British. This results in a lot of mispronunciations, such as 'hairtfordshire' and 'awnt'. if you can get past that it is a good story

Lovely story
A nice , if predictable story. I love to listen to the P&P sequels but the narrator can make or break a good story. This story was not enhanced by the narrator. Mis pronounced words in an attempt to sound upper class rather spoilt parts of the book. It did not put me off however, and I did quite enjoy it. ( it would take a lot to put me off a good Darcy and Elizabeth romance). I’d listen to it again and try an ignore those rather annoying mispronunciations.
