Publisher's Summary

What drives the Man Without Fear? Matt Murdock was raised by a single father, an over-the-hill prizefighter with one last chance to make good - a chance that cost him his life. Taunted and tormented by other children, Matt's life was irrevocably altered after he was blinded by radioactive materials while saving the life of an old man. The payoff? An unbreakable will and a keen intelligence, helping focus the super-senses with which he was blessed during the accident. His story is one of love, pain, disappointment, and strength. In this brand-new adaptation, witness the strange machinations behind the life of one of Marvel's most beloved heroes.

Enjoyable with alittle additions

The story is great and based off the Frank Miller comics with some additions to extend the story. I thought it was great but I doubt this fits in continuity. Loved it.

Great cast and great performance

Picked this up for a long day of traveling, 6+ hours of flying. Enjoyed the story as much as the performance, the transitions between scenes and dialogue reallykept thd pace fast and entertaining. Excellent audio version of a comic.

Few gruesome scenes - but not overly dramatised.

Recommend highly for anyone who enjoys: comics, crime drama, plays, or audio books.

The performance better than the story

It's a fun listen, the special effects are pretty good, and a large cast make this audiobook a fun listen. If you think of this as an old-fashioned radio drama, you'll understand it better. It's the origin story of Daredevil. I never read the comics, so I can't comment if it's true to the original story.

I consider three stars to be pretty good for an audiobook [to get to 5 stars it has a classic book]. Not life changing, not thought provoking, but entertaining.

Best audiobook on audible.

Gritty, gory, so fast faced and fully developed characters. I loved it. One of the best stories I've heard. It's detailed without spoon-feeding, it's dark without being strange and it creepy in the absolute best way.

Great story!

I really liked the story, however sometimes the background music was too loud. I had a hard time hearing the narration is a few parts.

Let the devil out

Was surprised by how good this turned out to be.
The six chapters pretty much tell Matt Murdock's origin from being a reckless kid, to the accident that blinded him, to his father's murder, to Stick, college, Elektra. Alongside Wilson "Kingpin" Fisk's rise to power in the criminal underworld ultimately colliding in Murdock's first outing as the Man Without Fear.
The story is well paced, the narrator is easy to understand, the few actors are great in their roles and the music and sound design help translate the action to audio.
Admittedly the chapters set around Matt's childhood can drag, but if you can get to the second half it picks up.

Do not confuse this with a full cast audio drama

downloaded this thinking that it was an audio drama but it's an audiobook so be warned as rather disappointing
