Story
While the undead currently roam the world in herds that can often stretch for miles, zombies are no longer the biggest threat to humanity. That distinction has returned to mankind. Those who are immune to the zombie infection are now either reviled or revered. Some have become human biological weapons while others are seen as the last hope for the continued existence of the human race. They are a symbol of hope to some...fear to others.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Publisher's Summary
Everything hangs by the thinnest of threads. In a Dead world, nothing is certain and nobody is safe. Friends have fallen; some enemies have been defeated only to be replaced by yet another. As the first year of the zombie apocalypse ends and a new year begins, can a person hope that the coming of spring can be a starting point for re-birth? If not... then what is the point of trying to survive? Fates will be sealed and destinies decided as winter finally fades, the darkness recedes and gives way to... Dead: Spring.

Can't get enough!
What made the experience of listening to Dead: Spring the most enjoyable?
It's always a mash up of the story line and the reader. Andrew's perfect for this book.
Have you listened to any of Andrew McFerrin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, he's awesome and I just love his style of reading.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were several and they moved me to have to stop the book so that I could collect myself before I could turn it back on lol
Any additional comments?
I'm so addicted to this series.

Still loving the story.... BUT!!!
The Emily zombie story is some of the worst reading or listening I've done, the storyline and writing is absolutely horrible an I have no idea why the author chooses to torture us with this writing. Was it part of his book deal to continue on with this dreck. So Emily of all zombies is the Moses and leader of the zombies small and adult with cats, dogs and wolves following. Yes that ridiculous... That idiotic story almost destroys this who book.. It makes absolutely no sense and almost steals the joy from the other stories and the Billie 18yr leader of civilian and military men is pretty weak also but the Emily story is the worst I ever heard.. I wanted to skip by it so much but didn't want to miss any of the other stories. It's so bad it makes you mad.. No one cares.. About zombie Emily.. It's so unrealistic and stupid..
The rest of the stories especially Kevin's, Vicks, Jodi's, juans and Cynthia is very much worth reading or listening to. Overall I still love the series.

Just gets better and better
What did you like best about this story?
If you've made it this far into the series you know why you keep coming back - the story is just really GOOD and continues to be fun and interesting along the way. Some of the same types of things may come up that you've seen in zombie stories before- but each time, TWB does a great job of personalizing the problems for each of the characters. I can't wait until audio book 10. Looking forward to more stories!

a good listen.
Would you listen to Dead: Spring again? Why?
yes I would because the book tells a good zombie tale.
What other book might you compare Dead: Spring to and why?
zombie sanctuary is the book I would compare this book to.
Have you listened to any of Andrew McFerrin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no I guess I messed up in that I heard the last book without hearing the preceeding books.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
no way too long for that but was nice cause I got 3 days out of it while working...better than listening to music all day.
Any additional comments?
did not read any of story before this book and was able to jump in and understand it all except the talk of what happened earlier in story about some military guy they met but it was not hard to figure out that this guy doublecrossed them and they were upset about it.

Didn't finish it
For me, this series is starting to wind down pretty quickly. This book jumps roughly ten years into the future from the last installment, and it just didn't feel right. To me, it felt like a gimmick to keep the series going. I really enjoyed the early installments, and I think I may just stop now and not sour the punch.

amazing!
T W Brown's Dead: Spring is the ninth book in a series about a zombie apocalypse and different perspectives. This book is about finding new homes, saying goodbye to some and hello to the new. It's about realizing your new existence and truth and fighting to survive. It's still utterly amazing.
Narrator eally brought the characters' personalities out and the story came to life. Great job. Love it!

Really enjoyed this book series
I thought this series was really well written, it took on a number of different perspectives and followed a number of groups, which I really liked however after much feedback TW cut down on this which I thought was disappointing, he also re-wrote the first few books following just one group each, these are 'Dead perspectives', 'Dead Vignettes' and 'Dead Geeks' I believe, so if you find lots of groups difficult to keep up with you might prefer these. He decided to keep it to 12 books which is a shame as it felt like there was a lot more these storylines could have given us. TW doesn’t shy away from the horror of what could happen and there is a lot of differences between the groups (which is why I'm unsure what others found so difficult about it, if they were all very similar it would have been confusing and boring but they are very very varied which I loved) but he doesn’t go too far into realms you don’t want to wander into (like the Zombie Fallout series by Tufo). I liked that it followed zombies on occasion too as well as groups of survivors and he wasn't afraid to kill people off when their time was done. FYI typical bad British accents, so nothing new!
I'm enjoying the children storyline, different and original.
I like the spinoffs too, the 'Dead snapshots' are great, I like the attention to detail (the English one was pretty much on point re: lingo and culture) and I'm enjoying the new Dead series.
