Publisher's Summary
If you think your family relationships are complicated, think again: you haven't seen anything like the ones in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Sookie Stackhouse is dealing with a whole host of family problems, ranging from her own kin (a non-human fairy and a telepathic second cousin) demanding a place in her life, to her lover Eric's vampire sire, an ancient being who arrives with Eric's 'brother' in tow at a most inopportune moment. And Sookie's tracking down a distant relation of her ailing neighbour (and ex), Vampire Bill Compton.
In addition to the multitude of family issues complicating her life, the werewolf pack of Shreveport has asked Sookie for a special favour, and since Sookie is an obliging young woman, she agrees. But this favour for the wolves has dire results for Sookie, who is still recovering from the trauma of her abduction during the Fairy War.
It's all about family....

Dead in the Family
This was well worth the wait, I loved this book as much or even more than the others. Having followed the stories from the outset it is fascinating how the characters develop and draw you in. This book is the best, dark in some parts and hilarious in others and all round entertaining. I sincerely hope there will be more of Sookie's adventures, I hate to think there might be an ending

back with more mayhem
Sookies is back as the heorin of yet another crisis. Finally she can be with the one she loves and adores, but trouble is lurking in the darkness. Eric meets his maker, the Fey are acting strange and all of this is wrapped up in a neat little mistery for us to enjoy, while Sookie tries to tie all the ends.
This book is narrated by Johanna Parker, who does a remarkable job, convincing us that Sookie herself is telling us the story, rather than the story being read to us. Also mrs. Parker does all of the voices herself, and this is why the stackhouse series is more than just books on audio. it is an experience, I can enjoy while washing the dishes. in fact, the stackhouse series is one of the main reasons my house is so clean, I just cant wait to hear the next chapter.

dead in the family
I've waited a while for this book and it didn't disappoint. It seems somehow deeper than the others and with a more serious tone as Sookie struggles with troubles from both her present and past. In fact, the past is an apparent theme in this book. I read it in a day and couldn't stop listening. Bring on the next one.

Agreeing with Elizabeth!
I completely agree with Elizabeth's review; I think 'Dead in the family' is my favourite Sookie book so far. Many of the reviews I have read on other sites have been negative, commenting on the lack of action and violence to found in the other books. In contrast, I think this made the book for me because it concentrated on the relationships, personalities and 'lives' of the characters, whilst preventing the Sookie books sinking into the formulas and cliches that have ruined many other paranormal fantasy series.

Dead in the family
I awaited the release of this latest Sookie Stackhouse book with eager anticipation. i have not watched the TV series as yet because I want to listen, exactly as Charlaine Harris has written them. I find that every book is so full of new themes and the developement of the characters is amazing.the narrator has such a good vocal range, you can see, feel and know each individual in the story. I know that I will listen to them again and cannot wait for the next chapter in this wonderful series. Thank you Ms Harris.

So much of everything
As a rule you can have to much of a good thing but that is never the case with these stories told by Sookie. The stories are so vividly narrated that you just melt into this fantatic but so earthy and real world of Ms Stackhouse

Boring Story, But Comforting
I’ve reached a point with this series where simply listening to the characters existing in this world is comforting and entertaining. That’s the only reason I rate this 4 stars overall. I still enjoyed the book.
However, this story felt lacklustre. Eric’s maker storyline was boring, the mysteries had no real development and the stakes were incredibly low. I’ve no idea where they’ll go from here.
Basically, Dead in the Family lacked anything extraordinary. That’s what separates it from the other books, and that’s what makes it the weakest so far.

One jarring error intruded on a great story.
Please have a person of Russian descent teach the narrator how to pronounce the name "Alexei", then edit this audio book.
